Oh hell no!  I haven't seen this much lightning in a while.  Spider, ground strikes and constant deep rumbles.  There were earth, and window shaking strikes.  Damn.  It getting worse again.  I thought it was close to over.   Even during a hurricane I haven't seen this much.

How many times have you been close to a ground strike?  Me? About 5 too many. I got a jolt from a stike while in the shower once.  I'll never take another shower while lightning is close.

Were your ears ringing? Did you feel that weird tingle? Were you all AAAAH I CAN'T SEE! I'm fascinated by lightning & what that might feel like. I've been close.... maybe 200 feet, but never THAT close.

And then there was that one time I went outside to watch an approaching tornado & ducked under a tree, thinking it would deflect some of the hail. That was a very stupid thing for me to do.

HI DI!!!

It got scary around here when the thunder was almost instant with every flash!  I've been too close to being struck many times to worry about superpowers.  Id have a superpower.  Watch the clouds and run for shelter before the shiat gets crazy.  Esp. in FL.  You can be hit from a storm more than 5 miles away.  I've seen it happen.

/CSB

I used to sail hobbies with friends of mine.  We out near the inlet and we saw a quick moving storm.  Lots of lightning coming at us.  We turtled the boat so the mast was under water and then laid between the pontoons.  It was about a minute later there were 2 or 3 strikes very close to us.  One hit a 50' luxury yacht and fried it power system.  He was less than 1/2 mile from us.  We could feel the shock through the water. That squall passed quickly and SeaTow was on us in minutes.  We told them we were OK, and pointed to the yacht.  He was drifting toward the jetty rocks.  We got righted and rushed to shore.  We beached just in time for the next wave of storms.   We sat at the bar for a couple of hrs as the storms came rolling through.

Ears rang for a nice bit of next day but didn't feel much. Rubber sole shoes and on wooden porch had me kinda removed from it. Strike blocked by the house so no blinding (luckily. My eyes are so shiat it may have been permanent).

Yes, getting close to trees during storms usually isn't smart, lol. (we cut that one down, was too close to the house anyway)

I don't know how close the strike was to me.  I remember getting in the shower while it was raining.  I was rinsing my hair when I felt a a shock traveling between my feet and head at the same time.  Then the big house rattling KA-BOOM!  I knew something close got struck by lightning and hit the water or sewer pipes.

SO, If it thunders, NO Shower for me!
