Marcus Aurelius: LessO2: there are few better right now

That's a very sad commentary on US football commentary.  It hurts me when I have say I miss John Madden or even god damned Howard Cosell.

Collinsworth I can take or leave, but for my money, Al Michaels is still the gold standard for play-by-play.

Be fair. This may not be for the standings, but it ain't the Pro Bowl either.

*snerk* Up until late last season, I thought it was a real coach, retired, from some college team who they'd roped into doing commercials. Boy, did I feel like an idiot when I found out it was just an actor. Good thing I never told any... um ... wait ...

Agree.

I might take some shiat for this, but I think Aikman is the best analyst right now.

That extra point was longer than the opera house shootout in "Godfather III."

But it was good.

Okay, NBC, more sideline interviews during the game? It's Ray Guy, so you're forgiven, sorta. But I seriously hate this trend in sports broadcasting.

It's a standard for this game. The game is secondary, but I feel ya.
I liked it better when the HOFers came up to the booth one at a time.

elguerodiablo: LessO2: Serious question: thinking about doing Fantasy Football for the first time.  Where is the best on-line league/club/place to do it, either for a little money or none?

Cbssports and espn have free leagues but 8/12 teams rage quit 2 weeks in. Look for the fark ff thread and get in a league with us jerks.

Ooooh thanks for the reminder. I've emailed Drew about getting us a thread. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back.

I started watching in the 70's with my dad. So my first MNF team was Howard Cosell, Frank Gifford and Dandy Don Meredith. I remember the night in Houston, I think it was, where they panned a camera up into the empty stands where one disgruntled man was sitting there in a cowboy hat, and the guy flips America the bird. It was all my dad could talk about for days afterward.
