By dawn tourists can be seen fighting in the streets, throwing up, passing out, and in the most serious of cases, being stretchered off to hospital.

So, basically Bourbon Street only a drier climate and less Spanish

Also, I'd like one of those t-shirts please.

Article is worthless without link:

The resort made headlines around the world last month after a video showing a young woman performing oral sex on several men on the dance floor of a nightclub went viral on the Internet.

Well, I assume South Padre Island, and Ft. Lauderdale and maybe San Diego will get featurettes about college kids and spring break?

Headline:  Young people sometimes drink too much and do dumb stuff, news at 11.

This place is much worse as the majority of alco-tourist are 18-19 and drugs are easily available on the streets.

That, and the crowd is mostly British.

So much this, because young adults in the US can't get their hands on alcohol or other drugs, thanks to the 21+ drinking age and the resounding success of prohibition here.  Also, if the multi-bj contest happened in Florida the promoter would be charged with sex trafficking of the victim, proving that this sort of thing does not happen when society is tough on crime.

To be fair, the Spanish tried to vacation in England in 1688; returning the favor only seems right.

Perhaps Spain needs an inquisition?

Well phrased, I can't QUITE tell if you are serious or laughing.  The idea that the 21 drinking age and prohibition of drugs works in this country is rather...amusing.

I was in Key West during spring break - one kid had just died trying to make a balcony to balcony jump...five floors up.  They had hosed off the blood by the time we got there.

Although from my visit to Scotland, there were a lot of plastered young people wandering about in public, more than I've seen in the US in a while.

Every British person I saw in Spain was drunk. It's like their version of Cancun.

I'm the minister of derp and I need to be at the gym fairly soonish, but no, not serious.  My primary emotion here is jealousy of the ability of these youths to revel in so irresponsible a manner.

Aaaannnnd this resort town expects "upmarket" tourists to just show up, after what sounds like generations of British Isle hicks puking up all over the place?

Good luck with that

Not to mention, the upmarket tourists are probably coming there just to drink and party too. The only difference spain cares about is the difference between dollar figures, if we're honest.
