BigLuca: I have an uncle that has burn marks on his chest from an accident he had when he was a kid.  He wears shirt to the pool.  He doesn't do that because he is ashamed or embarrassed about his body, he does that to make other people more comfortable when they interact with him.  He has not made a facebook post about it.

If people are uncomfortable because you have scars they are the ones with a problem. He shouldn't cover up for them

My sentiments exactly and I actually am having a beer for breakfast.

Look lady.   Get over yourself.  You don't have a hot body.  Some people are cruel and insensitive.  I've been mocked for the state of my body too.  I got over it.  I didn't know the people making fun of me and I decided I really didn't give a shiat although I sort of wished I had yelled at them "Oh yeah?  Let's see what you look like 25 years from now."

It's not worth getting worked up over.

brap: My efforts to battle body shaming include posting photos of my anal abscess with the word JEALOUS? under it.

Sure there are people that write "PLEASE DIE, THANKYOU" and "UNFRIENDED - by the way WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?"

But then my TRUE friends all write stuff like "You go girl!" and "Haterz gonna hate" and "Your possibly life-threating infection is what makes you you.  Don't ever change.  Well maybe change your underwear once in a while, it may help with the inflammation" and all is right in the world.

You should probably get that checked by a doctor. Might be an infected hemroid, kind of a dangerous thing, bleeding to death is bad if it bursts.

But, you go girl, don't be ashamed.

taurusowner: Zombalupagus: Stretch marks, while unattractive, are the scars left from a noble sacrifice. They should be considered a badge of honor.

For you males out there, imagine that you must suffer an ordeal for someone you have never met. You must endure 9 months of initial change and many years of obligation. And the ordeal will leave you scarred in such a way that may leave you sexually unattractive. Would you do it? Because this is what you are asking a female to do.

/just my take on things
//and if you're curious - I'm male

No, I'm not asking that. I can't stand kids, never want any and have taken steps to make sure it will never happen. If someone else gets baby fever and wants to go through all that, fine. But I'm not going to put them on a pedestal for it. There is nothing special about childbirth. It's something that has happen billions upon billions of times. The only reason why it's "special" is because you're genetically programmed to think of your own offspring in that way as it enhances your desire to protect and provide for them.

And as someone with a very good friend who had a girl use his used condom to impregnate herself on purpose due to the aforementioned baby fever, I really have no sympathy for the women who make the choice to have kids. It's a byproduct of your emotionally driven craziness. Deal with it and leave me out of it.

Sorry but the "I'm a mom, worship at the my feet for I have the magical ability of childbirth" tripe is just exasperating.

This.

Even if she had the body of a lingerie model, she has the right to wear a bathing suit on the beach without having her picture taken, put online, and commented on.

The kids were out of line no matter what the woman looked like.

Ironically, one of the most common couple problems to have in the year after childbirth is, he wants to have sex with her, she doesn't want anything to do with it. And if the couple splits up, the easiest thing in the world for a woman to find is sex. Heck, even with the flabbiest tummy and stretch marks, she could probably charge for it. This obsession with female body image and feeling sexy is ridiculous.

/ if you're curious, I'm a mom, not a hero.

The use of social shaming by what passes for 'working woman' feminism on the internet is pretty lame.

Trolls will always exist, making a blog about it does not make you more classy.

For the record I believe in equality, and feminism that that is not inspired from the pages of tumblr can be a very positive thing.

Gunther: Relatively Obscure: I'd bet money that this story never happened.

I ain't taking that bet.

The actual Facebook post never says that she was "mocked", it just says "I'm sorry if... it grossed you out". The MSM's just making a story out of nothing because there haven't been any recent plane crashes and those danged middle-Easterners are having a 72 hour ceasefire instead of blowing each other up, so there's nothing newsworthy to talk about.

The same can be said for the Fark mod who approved this submission.

I think part of the problem is that men have been taught this 'man up' ethic.  While some women have been given this set of humble ethos, many have not.

If a man gets told he is ugly on the beach, he sucks it up.  He has been socially trained to do this.
If a woman with a tumblr feminist mentality gets told she is ugly on the beach, she blogs about it.  Because life should be more fair for her.

More interesting to me: Why did anyone have to comment on her body to her?

Honestly, we all have seen more unattractive flesh at other beaches, but did you go up to a complete stranger and say, "Ma'am, you are UGLY!" or, "Sir, you are disgusting and need to wear board shorts."  Probably not.  Everyone's free to think what they want, but most people over the age of 12 are capable of applying simple criteria to speech:

Is it true?
Is it necessary?
Is it kind?

2014-08-02 11:03:16 AM
It's sad that someone made you feel bad.

But it's not sad that you feel the need to get on a soapbox and be an attention whore about it.

Your best recourse would be to grow a spine (not too hard...technically you've grown five already) and actually talk TO the person rather than revel in the fact that you felt slighted and took to the interwebs in an attempt to make you feel special.

Tragically the lesson here will likely be ingrained upon her kids and thus comes a generation actively seeking, at every second, some small thing for which they can climb on top of and claim they are being given less than fair treatment for while the rest of the world continues on doing what needs to be done.

You're not special because you had kids.  You can be special if you raise them to do good in this world.  And part of that is by not festering in a passive aggressive behavior pattern and go and talk to the person who you felt slighted you and tell them to fark off.  That way your kids get to see what being an active participant in making the world a better place is, the person who was rude gets to understand that they were out of line and the internet doesn't have to pretend to care about another person who "needs" to be a celeb for five seconds.
