Wasn't the idea of "going Galt" where the "makers" go on strike?

What exactly does a right wing radio host "make" besides hot air? They create nothing, they're just commentators.

who?

And somehow the earth keeps spinning.

I sincerely wish all the "makers" would go Galt.

Then they would learn that they are more lucky than talented as a thousand other MBA's line up to take their place and do just as well.

Also, who grows food and takes away the garbage in Galtland? I'm thinking it's Jason Lewis.

Society will fall apart without radio hosts, and then we will learn the error of our ways.

Art Bell quitting or Sarah Palin quitting? THEY were after him, she was after IT. Or something.

Kind'a makes you wish there was something to it.   You know.. so he can get turned away as useless by Galt himself.   A whole underground of producers and no need for a yapper.

/Besides when Galt comes for you, you just dissappear without a trace.
//Must be some other version the wingnuts read.

In one sense, I am somewhat curious about those Atlas shrugged movies.  I haven't seen any of them but how will they deal with last 90 pages of objectivist philosophy explanation?

No. it was a typo, he is going alt.  he will turn up with a new name soon.

The whole "Going Galt" mentality seems to be rife with people who only produce an overdeveloped ego and unrealistic perceptions of their contributions and worth to society.

Presumably by having the actor monologue for an hour or so.

By all means rand-tards, "Go Galt!". I hear Somalia is nice this time of year. The warlords love your politics and live by them daily!

I'm guessing his station has a format change scheduled for midnight. That seems to be a trend in talk radio these days.

Well, we just saw the launch of ReaganBook, so apparently tech can have a philosophy.

For better laughs, read the comments. The Limbaugh idolatry is hilarious. It's as though he's never said a crass, idiotic thing in his fluffy little life.

I think having Rand Paul narrate it would be much better.

Or a montage of the guy filibustering a small confused crowd of people and gesturing wildly while The Rains of Castamere plays louder and louder.

I dunno man, I think our society might collapse now that a regional AM radio host has decided to stop producing...stuff.

It's tech people have already made, but it ignores current patents and intellectual property laws, which results in a lot of yelling about their freedom when they get sued.

Or he was about to get canned for low ratings, and he convinced the station manager to let him save face.

Probably ignore every single Employment Standards laws on the books.

It would seem that those who 'go Galt' never quite outgrew their childhood fantasies of being a superhero. They are. The ones for whom the statement "You didn't build this" applies. By their own value system and logic, it is for them to demonstrate that they do, in fact, underpin civilization. (Holy crap. Hahahahahahaha. I managed to type that without either cracking up or giving up in abject disgust.)

Maybe me meant he was going to Galt, CA.  Hang a right at Lodi.

Going Galt has nothing to do with the makers. Rand hated actual makers. It's about the super rich leaving and taking all the money with them, leaving everyone else broke and starving.

I just glanced at galt.io.

Like a lot of heavily libertarian websites, it appears to be a dispatch from an alternate universe where people are paying attention to them. It's kind of amazing.

Ssh, don't let them in on the joke.  They're supposed to believe in a hyper-libertarian religion that immediately and obviously contradicts simple market forces---let's see if they notice.

I don't think these people understand what "going galt" means.

In the book, the characters slipped away from our society because it full of regular jackoffs and working stiffs (you know, looters) to form a new society full of promethean titans worthy of their gifts.  They were (legitimately) the true movers and shakers of the world, real Steve Jobs'/Richard Branson types.

This is a dime-a-dozen radio host publicly quitting his job to become a blogger on a site with silly "membership" requirements.

Hmph. Still stuck there, is he?

So, he's retiring, call it going Galt, then drives home in his luxury vehicle to his upper middle class suburban house, listening to the radio station he just quit talk about how he just quit.

Clever, that.

*barf*

Jason Lewis sucks. He used to have a show one on the local talk channels where I live. He's the main reason I don't listen to that station anymore. He was just awful: transparently disingenuous, hypocritical, loud, rude and mean-spirited. I'm glad he quit.

It fits right in to the common American mythology that nobody's an exploited prole but a temporarily embarrassed millionaire.

Ever notice the only people proclaiming they're "going Galt" are self-important blowhards whom no one would miss if they dropped off the face of the Earth tomorrow.

Maybe this is a sign that right wing lunacy has finally jumped the shark, things will calm down in the future, and this was his way of splitting while staying in character?
Maybe I'm optimistic.

And MBAs. But I guess I'm repeating what you said. I think every Galt-worshipping rand-head I've known IRL were all MBAs and proud of it.

IE: useless blowhards that don't have an actual job skill other than brown nosing.

That's because actually important people don't need to threaten action to exercise their influence.

He didn't go galt. He rage quit his job to call attention to his subscription based web site to milk Rayndian fan boys.

I admit I was never able to finish Atlas Shrugged when I was 14 but I don't recall anything in there about starting a website.
