Remember when LGF acted just like Townhall and American Thinker? It's impressive when you see people realize the people they've been defending have gone crazy.

So is LGF still acting relatively sane, or have they gone over to the potato side?

Charles Johnson decided to get off the crazy train (except for a few notable areas).   He has come into the light with all the zeal of a reformed whore or an ex-smoker.

I'd say it was worse. Shy of Stormfront I'm having a hard time thinking of too many other sites that size that contained quite as much racism and full-on genocide-mongering as LGF did after 9/11.

I'm still not clicking their links. The guy that runs that site can stuff his bike seat AND his camera up his arse for all I care, after what he allowed, and even encouraged, it to become.

I know exactly what you're talking about, but to be fair, Charles Johnson (the guy behind LGF) realized fairly quickly that some of his frequent posters, particularly Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer, were absolutely batshiat insane racists and has worked very hard to distance himself from that past. He's been a big supporter of President Obama, a huge advocate for promoting the truth behind climate change, and one of the biggest antagonizers of that arrogant smart ass Glenn Greenwald.

Yes, LGF used to be a total cesspool, but I give Johnson credit for realizing what was happening and working to turn it around.

Wait, guy says visa processing is halted, and he is in competition for being the stupidest person on internet because this guy has a press release showing that visa processing has been halted? Yeah it is a stretch to attribute the action directly to President Obama, but not exactly pants on head.  I would hope that the president is getting informed about everything going on over there at this point.  I would be more disappointed with the president if he didn't at least know about it.  So since it is his state department, and he should know about it, it is only a bit of a stretch to say he actually did it. A more accurate headline would have been:

Obama allows US sonsulate in Iseael to halt visa processing.

Just a bit of panty bunching at this point.

No, and in fact LGF's Charles Johnson will go to great lengths to point out he is not that little twat.

The one I still have trouble with is the Huffington Post.  Arianna Huffington spent most of the 90s calling for the Clintons be to arrested or just shot.

Yeah I'm still not over it.  Every time I click on an LGF link it's like that feeling when you go to take a sip of Root-Beer and you get Coke instead.  The really nice thing is when I do go to an LGF link I have to actually use critical thinking skills instead of simply assuming it leans one way or another.

Well, good luck to him, then. We'd be in a sorry mess if nobody could ever redeem themselves.

I'm still not visiting the site, though. Maybe if he just completely abandoned politics altogether and went back to posting pretty photographs of his bike rides I'd reconsider.

Maybe.

It's about how they framed it as liberals and Obama being anti-Israel, which had you really read what was being posted rather than grabbing the headline and running with it to be patently disingenuous.  That's why it's dumb.  It ignores the fact that the problems are caused by staff reductions in the wake of security concerns during ongoing violence.  It ignores the fact that these are temporary measures, and it ignore the fact that emergency visas will still receive attention.  Thanks for playing.

No, it's pure derp and hate-bating.  Just look at the first few lines of the Andrew Marcus story:
*No Jews Allowed
*Democrats have a Jewish problem:
*US Embassy in Tel Aviv Severely Restricts Visas for Israelis

The US Embassy isn't restricting visas for Jews or Israelis, they're doing it for everybody.  They're not reducing their processing just to stick it to Jews because of any political animus towards Israel, but because of reduced staffing caused by a war in the region.  But Andrew Marcus decided to tell everybody that Obama and his Nazi gang hates Jews and Israel so much he won't let them come to the US.

It is purely pants-on-head retarded.

So what if he knows that the consulate in Israel is short staffed today.  So what?  Or is it likely he would say "What the fark?  Why are you telling me about that?  That's the Ambassador's Junior Assistant for Operations Intern's job to figure out.  With the current situation surrounding the consulate in Israel, why would I give a shiat about staffing shortages?  What?  They're not filling all the visa applications?  Of course not, they're short staffed.  You just told me that!  What do you want me to do?  Fly in some staff from Italy on those magic planes I should have used in Benghazi?"

That is not how leadership should work at all.  But if things at one of your branch offices is unable to perform one of their major functions, it should come up at a regular situation update. 'Consulate manning is now below the point where they are no longer able to issue visas.'  Hence you may have noticed that I said it is a stretch to claim the president did this.  But it would not be a stretch to expect that the president is aware of it.  It would bother me more if he was unaware than if he actually had to sign off on the decision.

It isn't like we need a Chiune Sugihara issuing visas at this point anyway.

Some of the status briefings for entirely different things that I attend cover things like this in a general summary slide.  I would hope the president is getting briefings on Israel and Gaza regularly at this point.  When they do, I should hope they cover the status of the consulate. Key parameters would probably include: the number of personnel (marked as military and civilian), the assets on station, the threat assessment, and any other than ordinary conditions (such as no longer able to perform standard diplomatic duties due to reduced staffing).  If somebody determines that the lack of visas is a critical problem, I would figure they would also provide him with possible solutions (perhaps relaxing the need for a visa to enter the United States from Israel).

That is quite the strawman you are making of my position considering that I never claimed he should address the visas.  Or do you somehow think he should be addressing the visas?  Or do you think he shouldn't be briefed on the operating status of the consulate?  I stand by my original statement.  Stating that Obama halted visa processing is disengenuous.   But that hardly puts one in running for dumbest person on the internet.  Stating that 'Obama allows his consulate to stop processing visas is more accurate.  Inflamatory and misleading, but more accurate.  Much akin to saying Secretary of Interior allows price increases at Yosemete Park.  Sure, they might be informed, but it isnt like they are driving these things.

O. M. G!

1. They're both carbon-based; with over 100 elements on the periodic table to choose from, this seems too coincidental.
2. Both of them have been photographed numerous times wearing clothing and sometimes hats. What are they hiding?
3. Some people have been mentioning them both in the same sentence...just saying.
4. They've both written books arguing for the harming of either Jews or banks, which are basically the same thing, am I right?
5. Despite the vast age of our universe, they were both born within the last 0.000000625% of its current lifespan! Did they plan it this way??

If so they would be pro Greenwald and take similar stances. LGF has mostly become more socially liberal, taken on anti-science people more and dropped most of the anti-muslim fervor. Of course that is enough to earn them traitor status in the eyes of people like you and Breivik.

No, what it really does is puts him in the pool of dumbest people on the internet.  It's a large pool and possibly somewhat akin to the waves of "zombies" from World War Z. They're a roving glob of former humans clawing, biting and jumping over one another in a search for the brains they've lost.

Our consulates are under no requirement to issue visas at any time. The President has more important things to worry about. His priority id taking care of America and Americans - not the welfare of Israel and Israelis.
I want a president who works for America - not Israel - one reason I would never vote Republican
