Oh, for heaven's sake. They're not zombies.

It's another variant on the idea of the Danse Macabre. It's meant to be a morality tale about the transience of mortal life and the judgement after death.

It's not intended to be taken literally.

The "Y"in "Ye" is actually not a "y" at all, but a compound letter that is (was?) pronounced as a "th", so "ye" is pronounced as "the"

The more you know...

It's a joke about old movies and comics making that mistake, not a serious example of the mistake itself, man.  Essentially, a pop culture reference.

Deal wiþ it.

// Also, þ wasn't a "compound" anyþing, it was just a letter, one we decided was redundant when we formalized English spelling in þe 1800s.  For reasons and shiat.

It was eliminated a few centuries prior to that when the printing press was imported to England from France. They had French type blocks that didn't include letters like þ. So printers used existing letters in combination to mimic the sounds of the missing letters. So now we have 'th' instead of þ.

The men on the left seem awful female.  And in none of the paintings do the people wear clothes like in Game of Thrones.
