My kid learned this from school where they do this for the kid's oranges at lunch time. Does that mean the teachers at my kid's school are all a bunch of commies?

/thanks Obama

I think everyone has tried peeling an orange this way at one time or another. It's pretty obvious.

The problem, of course, is that it's a good way to cut your finger unless you are very careful. And even if you are very careful, you'll eventually slice the hell out of your finger when the knife slips.

And what do you end up with? A whole orange, that you probably will want to slice up into smaller pieces, because eating a whole orange is way too messy. Why not just cut it into pieces to start with, which makes it easy to peel.

I like to filet the individual sections.  Takes was too long, but oranges are SO good when you remove all that white membrane,

oh FFS, just cut the top and bottom ends off, the "Buttons" if you will, then cut a shallow vertical slice from the top cut to the bottom cut, then just unroll it like a tank track. The orange will peel and slice itself.

Forgot to insert the picture up there.

Dad taught me how to do this back in the mid 80's, damn kids these days with their weird accents and hoola hoops and COMPLICATED SHOES!

Did I miss something?  When did peeling an orange become such a difficult task that we need instructional videos for it on YouTube?

Wasn't the point of this not to get juice all over your hands? Yet his way he is literally palming the entire orange getting juice all over his hand...

When someone makes it all the way to adulthood before they find out how to do it, then thinks it might be a good idea to try and tell someone else about what they just learned in whatever-the-farkin-language was he was trying to mimic how to video in how for blah blah sneeze fart...

Ok the easy way to peal an orange. Put your thumb down through the bottom of the orange, as far into the orange as you can. Then pull the orange in half.

I was wondering about oranges in the Soviet Union. Then realised, oh right, Cuba.

The Soviet Union probably had more oranges than they knew what to do with, seeing as that was one of things Cuba produced that had some value to the Soviet Union (in return for arms, fuel, machinery, etc.).

I think his first video was something he did for his ESL class.  Some of his 'hacks' were kind of neat, and he had that silly accent and demeanor going for him. Internet fame and ad revenue has reduced this series to meaningless schtick.

Every time I see someone making one of those, I just think to myself, it would be a lot easier to just put the gallon jug in a pan, and sit the fan behind it.
