One of these days I'm going to send them a resume and cover letter applying for the job of telegrapher, as a joke.  I've got the actual skills to do it, too, which would make it even funnier.

/Have key, will travel.

You mean to say:

DIT DIDAH DADIDIDIT DADADAH DADIDIT

Vocalize it like that, instead of "DOT DASH-DOT DASH-DOT-DOT-DOT DASH-DASH-DASH DASH-DOT-DOT", and you'll learn Morse in no time.

Handy skill to have, too, if you're ever imprisoned by the Vietnamese, or baffle plate ruptures on a J-class training vessel (something Captain Pike probably wishes he had done).

Western Union posted a profit of $193.8 million, or 36 cents a share, down from $198.6 million, or 36 cents a share, a year earlier.

Everybody panic!

This. MoneyGram did a study last year. Over 80% of the transactions done by money transfer services is for either
A)fraudulent activity
B)illegal activity

You guys do a lot of money transfer transactions, do you? Because, ya know, as a retailer that processes these, I do. And yes I've seen the study.

That got me to barely the 5wpm to pass the test (when there was a ham test).  What actually got me decent was installing one of the Android morse code keyboards on my phone and sending messages that way.

Well, I'm sure that as an upstanding retailer in your community, you're informing the police whenever brown people send money overseas, right?

Ummm, no? I do inform MoneyGram when people try to bypass the limits they have in place. Like, doing more than one transaction to exceed the daily limit, blah blah blah. I don't call the cops, the transfer agency does.

They should've charged Doc Brown more for hanging onto that package for 70 years Two Months and Twelve days.

Well that's interesting. I use MoneyGram to send my sister in law a little cash every week so she doesn't bug my wife about getting even more money.

She promises it is for food, I know she is addicted to prescription pain pills and that's where the money is going.

Does this count as fraudulent, illegal activity or both according to the survey?

And I use MoneyGram specifically because it isn't Western Union. I have yet to have a Western Union transaction actually go through. I get off the phone, go to the truck stop counter and the transaction number doesn't exist in the system so I can't give them the money. So either I sit on the phone for another half hour or I go to Wal-Mart which is actually less painful than Western Union. Tried it a half dozen times with identical results.

They are so bad they drove me to use Walmart for financial services. Western Union pisses off a lot of people. Ive watched drivers sit on the phone for an hour trying and failing to send money home.

I just sent $10,000 to a barrister in Nigeria via Western Union so it can be used to bribe some government officials to release $100 Million via a pre-paid debit card, so I'm getting a big kick out of these comments.

// It's 100% safe and legitimate, because that's what the Nigerian barrister told me.
/// I even have emails from the FBI and United Nations telling me it's all 100% legit.
//// Total*Fark, here I come! Drew can take payments from a debit card, right?

If you're a ham, let me know.  I keep a list for the next Fark QSO party.

I was excited about Gmail Tap until I learned it was an April Fools joke.

It's something I could have used.
