Why is this a fail? They have to cut some significant money in order to help the long term. I thought we hated when CEOs thought only about the upcoming quarter?

I get cutting office staff, but if they want to save significant payroll, they need to drop about 15 "superstars" off the active roster.

Like, say, all of the Divas except AJ, Paige, Emma, and the Bellas (bring up the NXT girls); along with Ryder, Titus, both Matadors, both little people (Torito and Hornswaggle), Slater, the entire announce team (Cole, Lawler, JBL), Khali, Axel, R-Truth...

Also should cut Bucky Beaver Motherfarker. And give Fandango and Adam Rose a better gimmick, because their current gimmicks suck and hold back talented guys

Though not part of the cuts, Ricardo was released. I has a sad.

Anyone on Total Divas is damn near untouchable.

Perhaps not overpaying wrestlers should top that list?

Unfortunately. Bellas suck, Eva Marie is so bad she should not be allowed to leave her house, Naomi and Cameron suck, Layla and Summer Rae suck, too.

They are all really hot, but whoopty do

Don't they still treat most of the performance roster as independent contractors?  If the goal is to improve long-term financials, future-endeavouring a bunch of people who don't have long-term liabilities associated isn't going to make much difference.

Besides which, in-ring talent is about to get cheaper once TNA finally goes under later this year.

The next Royal Rumble will be for the wrestlers jobs! The ultimate Loser Quits match! Twenty men enter, only one keeps his job. Trish Stratus can be the special lingerie   wearing guest referee.

The problem is they pretty much have tied their future into integrating the reality show into the wrestling show, so the Divas can't be cut without significantly re-writing.. (cough)(cough)... re-casting the reality show. However, the idea of growing their lower league so they get paid more but still a lower rate than their high-priced contract counterparts when they are moved onto RAW/SmackDown makes complete sense.

You mean they're losing viewers because people are getting bored with bad overacting and seeing a bunch of guys bodyslam each other?

Think of the people getting laid off and wonder why personnel is considered the first expense to be cut instead of the resource that makes your organization possible. Gee that might be part of it.
/was once laid off... but this was after years of cuts elsewhere first at least, and other got a far rawer deal/far less warning than I did

As if they'd give away a bodyslam on free TV. That's what WWE Network is for!
