Why are we taking suggestions from an android?

Well, how close is Congress to passing that minimum wage increase?

From now on, we'll all be taking golden showers!

2022, when the Democrats retake the House following the de-gerrymandering of enough seats.

Yup I'm sure that will happen any minute now.

you just know that there are dozens of fortune 500 CEOs who are holding back hiring just so obama won't get credit for it. even if it hurts their bottom line.

It's entirely possible that conditions  are ripe for a general wage increase.

However, it's very  likely that our corporate plutocrat "benefactors" have access to this data, and more besides, and plan to counter it with lobbying and favorable legislation.  If some economist can figure out what conditions cause natural upward wage pressure, then the Waltons' and their ilk's lawyers can find out too, and work to reverse whatever those conditions are.

And now I has a sad.  Well, in about two weeks we're getting our annual "sorry, this will be Year 9 with no raises" chat from our multi-millionaire, I-live-all-expenses-paid-out-of-the-general-budget school president...

Wasn't this said during the [insert every administration since Kennedy] Administration?

Anecdotal data is anecdotal but I have seen three things that make me bullish because in the past these were all seen at the same time good times were ahead.

Lots of commercial construction.
An abundance of temporary license plates
Every fast food and retail store I see has a "we are hiring" sign out one had it on their marquee and noted that they started at $9.00/hr

I know $9/hr is still shiat, but it is above minimum wage and it means they they can't fill the positions for less than that so it is positive.

Last year our raises were .5% for a "Needs Improvement" on your review, 1% for "Average" and 1.5 or 2% for Above Average. Supposedly I was only one of two 2%ers in our entire facility and the bosses acted like I was killing them.

If I didn't Fark around who knows what I could have done.

People still got a raise even though they "need improvement"?

I say, let's cut some taxes and get this economic ball rolling

Sounds like not farking around would have gotten you the same two percent.

I've given my employees 2 raises and 4 bonuses in the last 18 months.

I'm a monster.

At least we're finally getting that runaway inflation I've been hearing about.

My son just got a $1.50 raise.  Strange thing is that they were told the company was giving them a raise before the government forced them to.

Nah, let's admit and amnestitize a few million more illegal aliens. That's what will get wages rising, you betcha.

Illegal immigrant cannot work in this country legally. Those business that hire them are breaking the law. Perhaps if we started sanctioning the businesses exploiting these people instead of the people themselves, it would actually help the issue.

But, don't let stuff like that get in the way of your bigotry and wanted to blame them for the greed among your own.

Raises are bullshiat. You get maybe 10% tops, if you know for a fact you are underpaid/appreciated, go get another job that will give you what you want.

It's in fact, the easiest way to get a significant raise, especially if you find yourself getting less than the going rate, is to get another job somewhere else.

The paradox is that your boss will then hire someone at the rate you wanted to do the same job.

So I ask you, why stay where you aren't valued?

Yes by all means please let's punish those who hire illegal immigrants!! Add that to increased deportation of illegals. Hit the problem from both sides, so to speak. If illegals can't find work and find it harder to stay they'll stop coming, and wages will rise. It's win win for all Americans.

But don't let that get in the way of your comical class warfare gibberish.

That was the original purpose of collective bargaining. But Unions are just as bad as the corporate overlords now.

Well, now with Obamacare decoupling health insurance from employment it is theoretically possible. More people leaving the labor pool means employers will have to put more effort into hiring, offer better salaries, and raise wages to maintain the talent they have.
