Christie's chances at the 2016 GOP nomination at this point range from slim to none but I guess he still has to go through the motions.

Maybe he's just there cos he considers deep fried Mars bars a comfort food.

No matter how delicious they may be, "comfortable" is not way you'll be feeling after eating them.

If he gets ahold of a butter sculpture...let's just say I hope the whole state is fitted with reinforced toilets.

I think that is the first time the word "slim" has ever appeared in a sentence about Chris Christie.

So are we getting a new Christie chokes down corndog pic?

Iowans arbitrarily throw rocks in all directions.
All rocks thrown hit Chris Christie.
Yeah.  Chris Christie is one fat f*ck!

I've never actually had one. I've never dared to be honest.

Does he even eat them or just absorb them through his fleshy folds?

Go be a promise-breaking fatty somewhere else.

No love -- Iowa

You run for office, make a name for yourself and if your party wins you try and parlay that into a cabinet position

As someone from New Jersey I probably should count my blessings, but why does it seem like Christi is never, you know IN New Jersey?

The man was elected to run the State. God knows he's not doing it very well, but it can't help the fact he always seems to be somewhere else campaigning for someone or setting up his inevitable Presidential loss.

He's just probably always in a helicopter, given that the bridge traffic is so bad.

Dear Iowa,

If Christie were to have a freak accident involving tons of butter and friend foods, we were totally with you at the movies when it happened.

Best of luck,,
New Jersey

But don't you dare say Rachel Madcow looks like a man, because that's just cruel and insensitive.

quatchi: slim to none

I'm from New Jersey, and I of all people should believe this, but I suspect he's got better odds than most people think.

We've got a country that's actively continuing to elect a party that is willing to stonewall anything Obama does because he's a Black Kenyan Muslim...and they're just fine with that.  You think that part of the country can't develop a little momentary blindness for the working-with-Obama thing when he's a guy whose administration was altogether too thrilled with itself and decided to stick it to Buono voters by causing traffic on a bridge?

Seems to me that kind of pettiness runs right up the alley of a lot of voters in this country.  So I'm not about to count out Christie yet.

Maybe they'll overlook that. You think they're gonna overlook his statements that religion is a private matter with no place in government? Or that being gay isn't a sin?

I get that American voters tend to have the short term memory of a Goldfish with ALS on 'ludes but I think that Christie has burned entirely too many bridges at this point.

His name has long been anathema with the radical religious right aka teabaggers even before the Obama hug "scandal".

Which should kill his chances in the GOP 2016 primary.

Even if he does prevail there the bridge shutdown scandal, the recent broken pension promise and NJ's moribund economy will do him in with GOP establishment types and moderates in the General.

Of course there's a lot more stuff in play than that and many things could change before things really get going but that's where my idle speculation is at right now.

I still have the chances of Hillary Clinton winning the Presidency in 2016 at 80%, and about 19% of the chance of her not doing so is her simply choosing not to run at all.  Not that Christie will even be the Republican nom in any case...
