UKRAINE: You'll have a blast here!

UKRAINE: Our girls are like Russians...only cheaper!

UKRAINE: Where Barack Obama and John McCain have actually agreed on something (but leave your fat daughter at home, John, OK?)

UKRAINE: Europe's crash pad

I doubt the body armor or guards will help much if your vehicle gets turned into a smoking crater by an IED or RPG.

A friend of mine (female) went to Ukraine with a couple of her (male) friends a few years back.  She thought they were going to enjoy the beauty and history of the old world.

The guys immediately picked up prostitutes.   It's pretty much all they did for the whole trip.

She was not amused.

I was not surprised.

As the kind of guy who wants to tour Chernobyl (the prices are reasonable!) I'm getting a kick out of this. If only airline tickets weren't so expensive and liable to end up in a smoldering crater.

The investigators are not leaving Donetsk until the road to the crash site is safe.

The road can't be perfectly safe because while nobody fights at the site itself, the fighting happens all around the site - Ukrainian government is trying to surround the separatists in the area.

Therefore, upon hearing about gunfighting happening in the vicinity of the road to the site, the investigators turn around. The road from Donetsk to crash site is somewhere around 60 to 90 kilometers, it is highly unlikely that it will be perfectly safe on its whole length until the whole kaboogle is over.

If you are ready to take a (serious, in my opinion) bit of risk, you may travel any place in the area. Some people do. The wast majority of them will not be harmed, and will have very memorable trip. For others, the trip will be a bit more exciting than they counted...

By the way, Chernobyl area is perfectly safe and mostly radiation-free. There is not much to see there, though.

Chernobyl

Meh, they already have tours right here in the US where you can see bombed out buildings, roving gangs of armed men, and complete social breakdown. It's called Detroit.

Tourists in a war zone? It's only a matter of time before the Republicans blame Obama, isn't it?

Sounds like they were enjoying the beauty, if not the history.

/Never been to Ukraine, have seen pics of the prostitutes.
//Prostitutes are sometimes actually hot there, unlike here where you'd pay them not to fark you.

Stay attentive to keep most baddies away, be armed for the rest. It serves me well in Detroit, day after day. Although, I don't usually go to the REALLY bad parts because there's nothing there worth doing...
