Little known fact: Everyone thinks that show is an adaptation of a Stephen King novel but it's actually an Americanized version of an Israeli drama. CBS tweaked the premise a little figuring American audiences would be confused if there wasn't a literal dome.

Probably not.

If anything I expect him pull a McDaniel and challenge his loss and blame black people.  Or claim he was legitimately raped or something.  Who knows with these guys anymore?

He's kind of old, so maybe.  Fox News might hire him, or some "think tank" would give him a nice cushy job and salary.

Mitch isn't anti-women.

He's just pro-penis.

And pro-subjugation.

I'll admit to exaggerating there.  Mitch is a slick operator.  I expect some sneaky, dirty tactics in the final stretch.  Nothing quite so ham-handed and clueless as McDaniel.

I foresee a problem. Labeling Senator McConnell as "anti-woman" in a state with a very large fundamentalist Christian population, thus containing a substantial population of individuals who believe women to be weak and inferior, may be counterproductive.

Mitch has the "anti-woman" fundamentalist Christian population of the state on lockdown.  Grimes is targeting the moderate/independents in the urban centers to try to swing them, because the race is incredibly close.

There are no fundamentalist Christians who are going to vote for Grimes.  There are currently, at least according to the polling, "moderates" who will vote for McConnell.

It's a smart play on her part as long as she doesn't push herself into Jezebel territory, which will push some moderates away who dislike the (whether real or not) "screaming banshee feminist movement."  I don't really believe that exists off of a few morons on the internet, but I've heard the complaint locally (Louisville) about other candidates, usually nationally.

I think she has accepted she's lost the coal vote.

I'm not sure anyone who'd support McConnell over even a real screaming banshee feminist is actually a moderate. McConnell is a bad person, a thoroughly despicable human being dedicated to only his own self, and people who vote for him should be ashamed.

McConnell is not well liked, even amongst people who will vote for him.  I'm not saying these are people who are "moderate" from a national standpoint, but for Kentucky, they are.  McConnell very effectively plays the "I bring in the money" card, the same way Northup did before she finally got unseated by Yarmuth -- I specifically remember people who will left-leaning voting for Northup only because they were afraid they'd lose their jobs (which were bound up with the bridges project that everyone promised would be cancelled if she lost).  There are people who are on the edge due to economic fear who really dislike him and his policies -- he's effectively promised if Grimes gets elected, every coal worker in the state will be unemployed, and women everywhere will lose their jobs.  The radio has been plastered with ads from McConnell groups about how if he loses, women will be hurt worse than anyone, because "the minimum wage increasing hurts women more than anyone."  However uneducated they are, there are a segment of "moderate" women here who think that McConnell is not anti-woman, mostly out of ignorance (and effective advertising on his part) -- I know because I bloody work with some of them.  They aren't incredibly religious, and are savvier than most Appalachian Kentuckians, but their only source of information tends to be the local news and the radio, which may as well be WHAS-McConnell and WAVE-Mitch.

I don't recall anyone ever taking this anti-woman tack against him publicly in the actual _local markets_.  Obviously it happens on the national scene, but that isn't what's plastered on TV and radio here 24/7.

People looking from the outside often don't get the full scope of what plays here.  The "not paid for by any candidate" ads would make Goebbels hang his head in shame.

You don't understand, this is deep red country here. Outside the actual cities, no one votes for Democrats. Funny thing is, there are more registered Dems in KY than Republicans. But in national elections, I could run a cantaloupe with an American flag stuck in it and win, so long as there's an R next to it.

I don't understand people who vote over and over again for people who continually f*ck them over.

One thing to consider. After losing Cantor, you can damn well bet that there's going to be significant money falling into Reid's lap to make sure he stays in the senate. Creepy turtle farker or not, he's got power, and you can be assured that some of his backers (whom were likely Cantor's backers too) are not as confident as he is about securing his hold on the chair.

I saw a turtle.

He's going to be re-elected because history says that's what is going to happen. John McCain has been my senator since I was in 6th grade. He will be until he dies, because that's what incumbents do. That also means that Jeff Flake will be my senator until the Earth goes crashing into the Sun.

The election in November won't change anything. The election in 2016 is going to be entertaining as hell, though, when Hillary wins. But it won't change anything in any meaningful way.

I'm not really sure how you can make statements like that at face value.

I mean, that, say, kind of implies there'd have been no difference between Preisdent Obama and President McCain. Or no difference between President Obama and PResident Palin.

/And I'm pretty sure the later in each scenario would probably have gone balls-deep into Iran.
