Marvel got the tree and the raccoon in a movie. Celestials showed up. COSMO THE SOVIET SPACE DOG. But the stinger at the end of GotG was an honest to god mic drop.

Ha. Seriously. I've got Howard the Duck on blu, just for shiats and giggles. I'd love for them to incorporate him further. The running for President story would be fun. Plus, hey, better candidate than any current politician.

The real question is, who would play Beverly?

That woman that's in the TMNT movie and was in Transformers (I can't remember her name - seriously).  Isn't she the GoTo babe for these kind of roles?

Sorry subby, did not watch.  I don't get Lego.  I watched the movie and walked out ashamed that I had paid to sit through a 90 minute commercial.

Megan Fox. We need someone who can actually act. With some range. Who doesn't suck cock for roles.

Saw it last night.  Loved it.  You cram enough 80's references into a movie and I will love it.  There were a couple scenes that were references to the Avengers that were hilarious.  They did a good job of not taking themselves too seriously.  If the movie had a more grim feeling, I don't think it would have been as good.  There was a lightheartedness to the whole thing.

/except the beginning.

There seems to be a scale problem with those sets.

\shouldn't at least RR use the short legs?

No joke, 90% of the people leaving the theater last night were wondering who that was, most were flabbergasted.  My personal favorite were the kids who, whilst waiting in line, were lamenting about all of the non-true Marvel fans and 'obvious non-comic readers' attending the opening.  Yeah, they didn't know either.

/really enjoyed GotG

I was evidently amongst many long-time Marvel fans last night, as I overheard numerous conversations wherein the character's name was stated.

/Guardians of the Galaxy is the best movie that I have viewed at a midnight showing in August this year.
//Will see again.

Burt Macklin: Galactic Rogue was awesome.  I'm still amazed at how most of the audience leaves as soon as the credits start up on Marvel movies, though.

I'm really curious to see The Avengers cross over with the more cosmic stuff in Avengers 3.  Thor was a mild introduction to it and the enemies in The Avengers were basically nameless canon fodder fighting in NYC.

The real trailer looked shiathouse, so this one must be pretty bad.

"It deals with an effort to save "the galaxy," but this is a notion without emotion. "
I don't know about him, but I was hooked a feeling the whole time.

"We are shown nothing about this particular galaxy that should make us care whether it gets saved or blown up like Vulcan in "Star Trek" (2009).  "
The fact that it's our modern-day galaxy should be reason enough to care.

Just a couple more gems after finishing reading it:
"He comes upon a metal orb, about the size of a softball, which apparently everyone wants for some intense yet unspecified purpose. Suffice it to say, it's like the ring in "The Lord of the Rings" or the little box that raised hell in the "Hellraiser" series."

1) It's purpose was specified: It's farking powerful.
2) Has the author never heard of a MacGuffin before?

"What's more, Groot has only one line of dialogue, which he repeats over and over. For all intents and purposes, there is no recognizable sign of Diesel in this movie - and too bad. He could have helped. "
1) Technically, he had two distinct lines.
2) I bet this guy thought Iron Giant sucked since it didn't have Vin Diesel punching shiat.

Seriously, did this guy see the same movie as the rest of us?  Has he even seen a movie before this one?

I thought that was covered pretty well by this scene:

Rocket Raccoon: Why would you want to save the galaxy?
Peter Quill: Because I'm one of the idiots who live there!

I think the best part about that after-credits scene was that Marvel Comics fans were hoping/expecting Cosmo to talk, and then they pulled a fast one and whipped out Howard.

However, something of note: With that Infinity Gem explosion busting up The Collector's place, we have to wonder if the OTHER Infinity Gems he collected are now out of his hands.

Also, I was thrilled to finally see Thanos. I can't wait until the day the Avengers get to fight him.
