So classic sitcoms now include Friends, Big Bang Theory, and Seinfeld?

I was expecting things like I Love Lucy and the Dick Van Dyke Show

That's the point of all of these. It's the story arc without the jokes.

I kind of liked them. In a weird way, they were still funny. Definitely unique.

I swear I've actually seen this, but I've been having a lot of Deja Vu lately, so I could be just imagining the whole thing.

Saying that a female body part rhymes with "Dolores" is like saying that a male body part rhymes with "Dennis".

Except Dolores (also sometimes spelled and pronounced Deloris) actually does rhyme with Clitoris. Say it out loud a few times. Trust me, it'll improve your mood considerably.

Watching Memento in chronological order is fun.

In other words, 80%  of the modern sitcoms are still full-length...

Well Friends ended 10 years ago and Seinfield ended 16 years ago...

so yeah... I think they could fall under the classic banner.

BBT not so much.

Actually, they're all full length. They start and they end. There's some stuff in the middle.

They rhyme only if you put the acCENT on the wrong sylLABle. (Hint - it's pronounced "CLIT-o-ris").

People like different things?  *Shrug*  I've tried to watch that show.  I've sat in the room with others watching it while they laughed hysterically.  I guess I just don't get the humor of that show.

But it's also pretty commonly pronounced "cli-TOR-is"....
If you were making the equivalent joke with males, you wouldn't use "Dennis", as even "Denis" is pronounced the same.  You'd use "Enos".....

The BBC originally ran MASH with no laugh track. Watching repeats now with it just seems wrong.

Well, I didn't say anything about that.  I didn't even say whether or not *I* like the show.   Fark just has this intense hatred for that show that is as humorous as it is predictable.

Seinfeld was still funny even without the jokes. The writing, delivery, performances etc - The show is just funny by its nature, the very premises were enough to make me want to laugh. Less so with Friends and BBT.

Yeah, the BBC version's great.  I didn't list it because someone would have inevitably singled it out as a "doesn't count because BBC" sort of thing.  I keep meaning to get the DVD collection--it gives you a with/without option for the laugh track for the entire series.

It was never supposed to have a laugh track (just like the Korean War). CBS put it in because viewers be all dumb and stuff. Gelbart and Reynolds eventually convinced them to leave it out of the OR scenes.

Erf.  Why do you think they made that joke?  He facepalms and realizes, "Dolores"; You wouldn't end an episode with a nonsense line....

I was thinking something like "The Honeymooners", but then again, that might border on existential horror.

Actually, when it is sometimes misspelled and mispronounced Deloris means some ghetto ass does not know how to spell or pronounce it.

Dolores is the correct spelling and doe-laur-s is how it would be phonetically pronounced in English.  Es in spanish is not pronounced is.
