Some jurisdictions here in America require you to inform the buyer if you believe the house to be haunted. I've always wondered about whether you had to tell them if most everyone else thought the house was haunted but you don't believe in ghosts.

If you personally believe it's haunted or if a bunch of ignorant rubes think it's haunted? Since I don't think any property anywhere can be "haunted" as ghosts aren't real, I'd never have to disclose that if it's based on personal belief.

What's next?  Informing buyers of potential Bigfoot sightings on the property? Possible water monster in the backyard pool?

Yep. There seems to be a niche group of real estate buyers who get off on ghost stories.

This. Next they'll require me to disclose the giant squid that eats anyone that goes near the living room bookcase. I keep telling em' - Look if you don't make eye contact, he might not eat you..". I swear, one real estate agent gets eaten and it's "horrific visage" this and "national manhunt" that....

It's not about personal belief, it's that a house having a shiatty reputation counts as a defect.  A house supposedly being haunted is like it being the site of a brutal murder, or the former owner being a major drug dealer.  It doesn't make any practical difference to the quality of the building itself (at least once the bloodstains are cleaned up and meth is confiscated), but some people are leery about it, and it does tend to drive down the property value.  If there's going to be trouble reselling a house later, I might want to know that before I buy it.  If teenagers will be daring each other to break into my house at midnight to find the "ghost," the seller needs to be giving potential buyers a heads-up.

The best part is their website makes it clear they are hoping to get other scam artists involved by actively marketing to "paranormal experts" so they can use the information to talk to residents.

I love spooky places, and yet don't believe in ghosts. Sign me up for the apartment found with the sixteen bodies under the floors and the collection of headstones in the closet.

Oh, and can I keep the headstones?

Thanks.

There is a house a few blocks down from my parents where the adult son murdered the rest of the family, even waiting hours for a few of them to come home before killing them and finally himself. The real estate agent said that there were a lot of people just wanting the tour, many wanting to know if there were paranormal events yet (less than two months after it happened). When the curious real estate agency called them back and asked them if it would hurt the value of the house, they said it would actually increase the value by at least 25%. I guess there is a niche for everybody.

Non-Indian corpses left in an Indian burial ground come back to live so technically it isn't haunted.

If I've learned one thing from Wuxia - and since I don't speak Chinese I have only learned one thing - it's that ghosts are everywhere in China.

Ok two things: If they're women they're looking for a husband among the living even though that makes no sense and could never work out.

That HAPPENED at my best friend's niece's wedding. Just before the ceremony I was talking to the father of the bride/my friends' brother-in-law about how we wish bride's grandmother could have been there and a decoration on the cake jumped off. We only saw it happen from a distance, it happened just as we entered the room.

Lighten up, Francis. Everyone knows the Japs at that time were blood thirsty monsters. I've studied human brutality through history, and know them Nips ranked up there with the worst of them. Just now since I've hit my 40's, I prefer to dwell on the peaceful, and enjoyable aspects of life, such as humor... /stormfront! lol

I wil not "lighten up" and will with full force call out a holocaust denier. But since you've made it to 40 and "got yours", the world is now just a peaceful enjoyable humor. Boy are you in for a rude awakening.
