Calmamity: He should run for President.

The establishment would have him assassinated first.  He frightens them

I'd like to bang his gavel.

And the county judge, who held a grudge
Will search forever more

He sounds like a good sport (as he did in an Outside magazine article from years ago). I hope he's followed around with cameras and they turn this into a reality show.

Yeah, there's a real dearth of those, right?

I don't 100% agree with his politics, but I do believe him capable of separating his personal opinion from the obligations of the office and would willingly vote for him over someone I could not say that about if it were my area.

Mike Rowe is great. Dirty Jobs was a fun show. Him pnwing that Boy Scout awhile back was entertaining.

Yeah, he may be a bit more conservative than this place would like, but he is a champion of the common man and is not afraid to rub elbows with someone that has a net worth under $5 million.

I like Rowe

I care a lot.

Does Mike Rowe have the legal experience necessary to be a judge?

gnosis301: Does Mike Rowe have the legal experience necessary to be a judge?

He's cleaned out the rabbit jizz machine while breathing in the fumes from the bovine funeral parlor next door in overalls that were previously used for crawling through the asbestos under someone's subbasement. All for a shockingly low amount of money.

So in other words yes.

He has the comedic experience to get everyone all riled up.   Apparently there is another Mike Rowe that is currently running for this office.  The actual deadline for entering the race has already expired.

He's hot, sure.  But isn't he pretty right wing?  Which is disappointing because he seems like a nice guy but might actually be a Sajak, a petty, smug, juvenile, contemptuous Republican bigot.  Which is redundant I know.  And when a right winger starts talking about all-you-need-to-know-is-the-Constitution, my blood turns cold.  That's downright Scalian.

And he's the Maytag guy now, right?  He can lick the mash off my whisk anytime, but I probably wouldn't vote for him.  We have way too many right wing judges trying to turn back time.  If Cher can't do it, let it go!

I might vote for his mom, though.

He's a nice guy who made an entertaining show, but I do have to question if he actually has the qualifications to be a judge. I mean, did he go to law school, or have any background in law?

I'm not actually sure what his personal political beliefs are.  The only thing I know for sure is that he is big on encouraging people to go into the trades, which isn't all that political of a stance.

He did appear at a Romney event in 2012, but after that caused a furor, he was pretty quick to say he was only there because he thought it would be a good outlet for the trades thing  (and he was invited).

2014-07-30 03:34:35 PM
I think he'd make a great Secretary of Labor.

But what does a lapse in judgement really mean for somebody who wants to be...oh, right.

He was also on the Bill Maher show and gave pretty much the same discussion.  It is pretty clear that he wants to get his message out and, I for one, support it.  Give him a big stage and he will be there, regardless of whether it is blue or red.

Great. So the idiot who got straight D's in 5th grade who'd tell others, 'You may have a lot of book-learnin', but you ain't got no common sense!" wants to work with the grown ups? Well, Arkansas's more or less a shiat pile any way. And, that's coming from a Kentuckian.

And he was a guest on Glenn Beck.  That kind of sh*t doesn't wash off.

I'm not sure you're familiar with Eyeball Kid.  There is no complex problem that cannot be reduced to broad stereotypes expressing the exact ignorance they are intended to ridicule.

Yay, all we need is one more completely unqualified person on the bench because this guy is different and a champion of the common man. Sigh.

2014-07-30 04:41:46 PM
If any candidate were to act as a real judge and eschew a political stance, I would be inclined to vote for them. I would be less inclined to value a law degree over a general weight of experience and intelligence in selecting a judge on a local/county level. There are many levels of appeals above the local to correct errors of procedure.

If we're talking about Federal Appeals levels or higher, I would expect the nominee to be well versed in the more esoteric intricacies of law.

If Rowe were to be an actual office-holder, you'd want to give him something where he could get his blue-collar on and be right at home doing it. He's good at knowing the godawful stuff people do for a paycheck and the stuff that has to get done for society to run smoothly.

Basically, give him something with the word 'infrastructure' in it and just let him run.

A county judge? Is not that something.

I get what he's saying.  I don't like how many people actually think something like this is a good idea.

Jesus christ.  I only clicked because you people said something.  It felt like that moment when you sit down for an obligation blind date that you're doing as a favor for a friend and they immediately launch into some version of 'I'm X, and if that's a problem...' and then spend the rest of dinner expounding on it while you contemplate how much shiat your friend will give you for ditching their wife's cousin's best friend who is new in town.
