Every time I go in there I expect to see people doing keg stands.

To this date it is the only restaurant i have walked out of after receiving my food. Cold, cold wings delivered an hour after ordered by a waitress who clearly didn't want to be there (who had checked on us once.) Never again.

My kids love going there, but I find it really hard to justify spending $50 for 4 people on chicken nuggets

They just opened one down the road. Horrible. Actually makes the Ram Brewery look good.

Went to one for the first time just a couple of weeks ago....didn't have wings, just some beers and a chip/dip thing they have (we were going to a movie and just decided to kill some time beforehand).  Beer was cold and the dip was passable.  Didn't realize the chain (or at least the beginnings of it) had been around since 1983.

Breaded wings are farkING DISGUSTING. You want that shiat, get it delivered from pizza hut and get those diabeetus wings they pass off as buffalo flavored.. breaded chicken nuggets covered in sugary orange sauce. Gross.

Hooters wings are an abomination. I really did like when they had snow crab legs tho. Do they still do that? I've been meaning to introduce my son to the place.

/not 100% against breaded wings

Hooters' wings are vastly inferior to BWW's.

People go to Hooters for the... ambiance.

Well, the beer is cold and they have a full bar and they are open to 2AM around here, plus a patio.  Not the best food but the booze is fine.

They're building one of these in downtown Seattle as we speak.  Chicken wings are up in my top three favorite foods, so I would care, but Seattle already has these guys, and they're far superior.

But I still go every few weeks if my wife and I are up for it.

I've been to a few locations when I'm on the road and I've noticed a service problem.  Specifically, the bar is understaffed so that they generally have a single bartender trying to work the bar and make all the service drinks.  It's really too much for one person.  I understand it keeps the staffing costs low, but I'm always sitting with an empty beer and I don't feel like blaming the bartender when he's got six tickets on the counter and three waitresses lined up.

What's lamer is there's usually a manager standing around.

It's okay.  Granted, I live in a retail center kinda town, so we have Wild Wings, Fridays, Applebees, Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesdays, 99 (a Boston area thing), as well as IHOP, a hibachi restaurant, a Chinese buffet, a local sports pub and the fast food regulars, all within a mile of the mall on two different roads.

\used to have an Outback, a Ground Round and a Smokey Bones in that stretch at one point too
\\it's one of those "never go there in November and December" kind of roads
\\\also, fark bones, too much goddamned work, boneless is where it at

I got spoiled living in Rochester, NY.  They must have super chickens in upstate NY.  The tiny things other places call wings are just sad, six wings should fill you up.

No doubt. Went in for lunch one time and, due to my white shirt I had on, decided to go for the boneless wings and eat with a fork like some 4yr old. Turns out, they bread the shiat out of the "boneless" wings.

Gag inducing. Horrible.

Mr. Shoes wings.... ::drool::

They definitely don't do wings as well out of that region. The midwest (and BWW's headquarters region in particular) has pitifully poor wing options.

So delicious.

I buy bottles and use it at home so it isn't absurdly expensive per wing.

I last went to one in late 08.

The service was so bad, our party were laughing and waiting to see what would happen next, actually hoping it would get worse.

Every waitress was the same body / hair type, hot 19 year old and they positively walked all over the doughy 30 something manager who, despite all his pleas and suggestions, couldn't get any sort of performance out of his crew.

I've never thought much of their food, and worst of all, their margaritas are shiat.

/ they seem to do quite a business though
// seems popular with the Miller Light and Mich Golden crowd

When I was In college over a decade ago the food was really good. We were super excited when they owned one up here whew I live now a couple of years ago. It was a giant ball of meh.

I don't think it was just my tastes changing, I swear it used to be better quality everything there.

I've talked to a guy who runs a decent bar about this.   If he puts big wings in a basket, people complain that they didn't get enough.  If he puts small wings of equal weight, then they're too small.  So he makes an effort to to find a size so that six wings totals 1 1/4 lb.  That's his lowest complaint level.

I think different locations have different french fry sources. I used to love that chain, then a new one opened closer to me but it has crappy thin fries that taste blah and get cold fast. I don't go there anymore.

Exactly.  Asshole customers will always complain about something. We had small 6oz glasses for mixed drinks at my bar.  People complained about how small they were.  So now they get 10 oz glasses with the same amount of alcohol.

You're probably right. I worked in one for about 5 years, 2001-2006. Went to one recently and the menu has tripled in complexity and the product quality was worse. I feel no need to go back.

2014-07-30 10:26:06 PM
I went to the one by me recently for the first time.  I was just drinking beer.  I ordered one.  Later in the evening the waitress comes back and hands me a second.  "I didn't order this" I said.  "You didn't?  Oh well, here you can have it for free!"

So I would say the service was excellent.

I like going there for the Sunday-Thursday late night specials.  They have appetizers for $3 and I get whatever tall beer is on sale.  Decently cheap bar night.  I buy sauce for use at home instead of buying wings there.  Asian Zing is my favorite, Spicy Garlic is #2. Since I'm an RN and work only a few days a week, I can get blitzed while other people are going to bed early for work tomorrow.

I did like it a little better in the '90s near Rice University when it was called BW3, but oh well.

I find it hilarious that the local BWW is directly next to the local Hobby Lobby, on the site of the Super Walmart that didn't get built because the city said no until they said yes at another location a mile up the road. I think the site is an Indian graveyard or something. It's also next to the freeway.

/ I'm kidding about the graveyard.
// I'm not kidding about everything else.

One opened up near where I live, shortly there after the hooters closed down because nobody was buying their wings anymore. Everyone was hitting up the Wild wings. Once hooters closed down Wild wings doubled their prices. Litterally. Havent been back since I ordered 40 wings takeout for a party and it came to 70$

I enjoy their salt and vinegar rub. Their fries and other potato products are lackluster though.

Blasphemy.  Deep fry the wings until they float and then a bit in peanut oil.  Drain on paper towels in half steam tray.  Heat up a mix of 1/2 Franks Hot Sauce with 1/2 butter in a sauce pan.  Pour sauce over wings and toss.  Cover with foil, place on cookie sheet to carry and drive to whatever event your are bringing them to.   They stay good on a steam table for a few hours.

Fundamentally, the problem with BWW is that it's exactly Taco Mac, but without TM's kickass beer selection.  Both are equally overpriced, and while the wings are pretty good, they just aren't worth it without a variety of good beers.

2014-07-31 09:28:38 AM
Some of the sauces or good. Too bad they use runt wings. When you can fit 12 wings into a small big mac-sized container you are doing it wrong.

BWW is expensive, but there is absolutely no way in hell you paid $70 for 40 wings.

2014-07-31 10:40:45 AM
BWW is OK occasionally, but your local bar/restaurant probably makes bigger, meatier wings with better sauce.

Two moments in history when this franchise went downhill.
1. When they dropped the Weck.
2. When they stopped serving farking Buffalo Chips.  That fried potato abomination they started serving over the last year or two sucks.

I go when we go to our HQ, because it is walking distance from the hotel. Other than that, meh.
