Gaffe? It's been almost 13 years, and Australia is on the other side of the planet.

Maybe people need to grow the f*ck up.

2014-07-30 01:30:35 AM
I agree.  The date of September 11 does not need to be fetishized by everyone in the world for all eternity.  Jesus, people.

Really?  People are butthurt over this?  I guess we need to make 9/11 a worldwide holiday.  Damn Aussies should know better.

2014-07-30 07:20:42 AM
Yes, it is outrageous they are releasing such a crummy movie on 9/11...

/...it's almost as if somebody FORGOT!

2014-07-30 07:31:49 AM
Never forget.

...that to most of the world, it was just another terrorist attack in a year that had over 50 worldwide.  Yes, it's the worst terrorist attack in history, but that just puts it at the top of a very long list where it's impossible to memorialise most (if any) of them unless they affected you.

2014-07-30 07:44:58 AM
So we can't do anything on 9/11, or reference it in any other way other than to mourn it?

9/11 - SHUT....EVERYTHING....DOWN

2014-07-30 07:48:05 AM
I'm not so much offended by the poster, but I am offended they gave the Turtles lips

2014-07-30 07:50:09 AM
So... they are leaping from a corner office building that's exploding... and that's offensive?

I would think Aussies of all people would have the balls to say "Get over yourself mate" I'm more offended they backed down.

F22raptom: we can use pictures of people jumping from buildings on 11/9 all we want...

Sure, why not. I don't think the 9th of November has any specific event associated with it. Good call on moving it four days after the 5th of November, otherwise the Brits might whine. Well, those that haven't been part of the mass die off from the "heat wave".

The written date format in Australia, as in the UK and New Zealand, is dd/mm/yyyy (e.g., 31/12/2006).

2014-07-30 08:39:21 AM
The general reaction in Australia to this has been (At least by anyone who has mentioned it) derision and the thought that it is pretty distasteful, more out of solidarity than anything.

2014-07-30 08:42:33 AM
Wait, are we talking about the 9/11 embassy attack in Benghazi?  If so, I think we need to subpoena Michael Bay, everybody in Australia and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to testify before congress so we can get to the bottom of this once and for all.

Those turtles look terrible. Twenty some years of technical improvements and they look worse than the originals. That's the real outrage here. These turtles are a disgrace, much worse than 9/11 was.

If we're still shiatting our pants over this 13 years later then the terrorists really did win.

I'm an Aussie and this the first I've heard about it.
Then again, it looks like most of the people complaining about it aren't Australian.
Paramount AU just needs to grow a pair.

The funny thing is that these issued statements aren't about respect at all. It's appeasing an overly sensitive online voice for the sake of profit, and brand. And to anyone who could be offended by a movie poster and a calendar date...I mean, c'mon, man.

I think it'll be fun. Bay and toe thumb (fox?) will stink it up some, but at least the turtles aren't cgi. I'm coming around on the turtles appearance. Do they look "fake", maybe a little, but I would expect them to be somewhat disturbing to look at.

Considering it is just a picture of a movie poster not sure why you need a video.

I am obviously no longer the target audience for anything TMNT. That is the only way I can understand from what I have seen of this movie. That makes me a little sad.

BINGO.

As a nation we don't care. And 99% of us wouldn't have even made the connection.

BS. Not saying any other country views it like the US does but it was not "just another terrorist attack".

What other attack involved 4 simultaneous airline hijackings with two of them taking out 2 of the tallest buildings in the world, in one of the most famous cities in the world..on live TV. Oh, and another plane was flown into the military heart of the the country with the largest military in the world? And to top that off, the 4th was (allegedly) flown into a crater as the passengers tried to retake control?

Yeah. Just another attack amongst 50 that year. Easy to just forget.

There is no sense in getting the vapors over movie poster 13 years later but christ, what you typed was retarded.

2014-07-30 10:40:48 PM
Really subby? They didn't think it through?

Everyone's promoting the upcoming movie by talking about this and they get off with an "oops my bad".
