See if you can enhance those timbers.
Wait. Zoom in on those tree rings.
Those worm marks match something I once picked up on a trip to the Caribbean.
Gross. Zoom in on that landfill, instead.

Without RTFA it is my understanding that Manhattan was a giant junk yard, and the island was built up by burying everything they could to make it higher above sea level and bigger.

This is no surprise.

"Our results showed the highest agreement between the WTC ship chronology and two chronologies from Philadelphia (r = 0.36; t = 6.4; p < 0.001; n = 280) and eastern Pennsylvania (r = 0.35; t = 6.3; p < 0.001; n = 280).  "

Any stats person want to explain this?  The "n" is the sample size, the "p" is the significance level.  The "r" I imagine is a correlation between the WTC sample and each chronology?  What's the "t" then?  If it's from a t-test, wouldn't a 6.4 mean the two samples are different, rather than not different?

so the ship was supposedly built around 1773... yet there's a modern-day quarter clearly on the sample that they show.

I hope this doesn't count as a spoiler, but on the most recent episode of "The Strain", this is a minor plot point. Keamy from Lost explains to Number Five from BSG that his multi-million dollar building was built on top of a buried cigar factory, and rats love cigars, which is why his daughter got bitten on the lip by a rat.

FTFA: By comparing the wood's ring patterns with the historical record, researchers at Columbia's Tree Ring Lab led by Dr Martin-Benito found that the ship was built in a Philadelphia shipyard around 1773.

No. What the ring comparison shows is where the wood came from. The ship could have been built in England with lumber imported from the colonies.
The ship was probably built in the colonies, but the tree rings do not tell that.

Are there many instances of wood being shipped across the ocean just to build.. another ship?

The CIA, using a wooden ship with special radar evading technology, sailed up to the WTC, unloaded their C4 and radio direction finders.  Their Cuban associates then placed the C4 exactly where it was needed to go whilst, WHILST the CIA operatives planted the radio direction finder so that the unmanned airplanes could precisely strike towers 1 and 2 setting off the explosives.  The Cubans then moved to the real target, building 7 with the remained of the explosives whilst, WHILST again the CIA operatives moved the boat in to the sub basement next to the subs.  They all met on the platform for the A line train, had a churro and took the took the tube back out of town.  Back to the Rollin' Pin.  They felt a little like a dying clown. I was left wondering how long the ship was.

Hard to get an idea for scale based on the pics (the x-ray one had some sort of metallic object on the left side of the image) and the author wasn't sharing.

Yes, in the early days of the colonies every tree over a certain diameter "Belonged to the Queen" and you could be fined or imprisoned for cutting one down.  By the time of the colonies the British had cut most of their forests.  Lumber was a major export of the early colonies.

Clearly a false flag operation.  No wreckage from the mast or casks of rum, the hole in the ground is too small for a ship that size, and all the bodies were cadavers drained of their blood.

I think it is very obvious that government agents painted a 1770 ship up in civilian airline livery, packed its hold with kegs of thermite and sailed it into the side of the building.

Actually, they belonged to the king.  Because Elizabeth I died in 1603, and the first successful British colony was establish in what would become the US in 1607.

Then, it was a major sausage fest of British regents until Victoria, who ascended to the throne in 1837, fully 61 years after the Declaration of Independence, and 23 years after the Treaty of Ghent which ended the War of 1812 and effectively ended any British claim to its former colonies.

And yes, I'm being pedantic.

I have no idea. My point was that tree rings alone couldn't tell where a ship was built -- only when and approximately where the wood came from.

It's simple..using the model of the Soviets in Afghanistan, they used retasked civilian aircraft to deliver special forces to Kabul.  Bush, being in the CIA at the time would have probably heard something about it loitering around the watercooler while discussing the sexual proclivities of Dana, the admin assistant in the intelligence office.  No doubt he would have gone home, had his steak and a couple of scotches and then played a rousing game of Risk with his son.  He probably cheated by holding a few armies in his hands and used it to break out of his stronghold in Australia claiming it was just a Quantus flight of business men flying to China to open a shoe factory...blammo...airborne forces land in Kamchatka allowing him to win.

Now fast forward to 2001, that lesson was not lost on the young Bush.  I mean really, who would give more than a passing thought of a ship of Vikings rowing up the Hudson sitting on crates of C4 and thermite?
