San Antonio seems like a stretch.  They haven't torn down Candlestick yet, would that be an upgrade over the Coliseum?  They could even keep calling themselves Oakland, it's close enough.

Not really. People have a lot of sentimental attachment to the Stick, but purely as a football venue, it's worse than the Coliseum. The Coliseum at least was built as a multipurpose from the start to accommodate both baseball and football (though the addition of Mt. Davis all but ruined it for baseball). Candlestick was specifically built for baseball, but later remodeled when the 49ers moved there.

They should move them to OKC.

I would get to watch 3 Texas teams suck, instead of 2!

What a country!

FTFA: "San Antonio has often been used as a bargaining chip for pro sports franchises trying to negotiate better deals in their own respective cities"

Doesn't he mean LA?

There was that moment when Red McCombs threatened to move the Vikes to San Antonio... which would created by raucous laughter before he even finished the sentence.

Wait... if they wanted to be closer to Al Davis, they'd go to hell. Actually nevermind. Texas is close enough.

It sheds light on why Jerry Jones wants a team *cough*Raiders*cough* in LA. I'm pretty sure SA is a big Cowboys market and Jerry wouldn't want them cutting in to his market share.

The hell are you jabbering about. The Coliseum is significantly better than Candlestick.

Cowboys are big all the way to Mexico City.

So will this automatically mean Romo won't be the biggest NFL-related thing to mock in Texas?

Mark Davis, Al's son, was in town to watch Cliff Branch get inducted into a local sports Hall of Fame.

Henry Cisneros, the former mayor and man responsible for the Alamodome, game him a tour.

That's all there is to this story. San Antonio's demographics don't suggest that this is a prime market for an NFL franchise. MLS? Hell yes. But not NFL. Besides, for better or worse, this is Cowboys country, with a side of Texans and a sliver of Saints.

Great, now San Antone can have a football team that stinks as bad as that stupid Riverwalk toilet.

I think you're forgetting that the Houston Texans are already there.

Mexicans in Oakland...Mexicans in San Antonio.

For visiting fans, let's just hope they're not as stabby.

The NE Patriots pulled this stunt on us in Hartford, CT back in '98. Don't get your hopes up San Antonio :(

Keep the logic to yourself pal. The derpers are on a roll so just let them enjoy it.

It's almost assured the Raiders will move back to Los Angeles if Mark Davis can't get his stadium plan to move forward. If the A's get on board there might be a chance but otherwise I think it's back to LA in the next 5 years.

There's no hope, really. Cisneros' son-in-law works for the Raiders' corporate marketing staff. Cisneros wanted to show off his baby. Davis took the meeting because it puts pressure on Oakland to get a stadium deal done.

The local mood is, basically, "Ain't no way Jerry Jones would allow a team to move here". This is the largest Cowboys market outside of the Metroplex, and Jerral isn't the type to let a revenue stream go.

Jerry Jones on Raiders exploring move to San Antonio: 'It would be difficult for them to make headway. I'll make sure of that'

this crap again........I'm from San Antonio so I'm getting a kick out of these replies, but its not gonna happen.

Don't get me wrong I hope it does.
-San Antonio Vaqueros
-San Antonio Coyotes
-San Antonio Lechuza's

But the Alamodome is good for the yearly monster truck show, High School football Playoffs, and the Alamo Bowl.  It won't cut it as an NFL stadium, and the people of this city won't pay for a new one.  Best thing would be to place a stadium somewhere between San Antonio and Austin and split the fan base.  Somewhere like Buda, or San Marcos.

San Antonio is the side chick being used to make the wife jealous.  It's not gonna happen.
