An aunt, Precious Belton, 34, said Tremaine told her that Trevele started the fire by lighting something on the stove. Tremaine said he tried to call his father, Tremaine Belton Sr., but the phone ran out of minutes.

This is why you don't let a 4-year-old play with the stove. And if Tremaine couldn't put the fire out himself what did he think his dad was going to do? Call 911 immediately, doofus. This whole family sounds really stupid.

So he's a coward? And if he'd died going back in he'd be an idiot.

You expect a 5-year to have the logical reasoning to call 911 first instead of his daddy? Kid wasn't been stupid. He was being a little kid.

And where in the hell was grandpa when the 4-year old was playing with the stove? If he had been watching them properly it's likely that wouldn't have happened.

The white firefighters broke in, tossed the grand dad out and then sprayed kerosene all over the place and set the blaze themselves.

The truth is out there...

He really does a great bodycheck on the old woman,  he leads with his shoulder, and puts his whole body into it!

The only thing this story is missing is someone hiding in the back seat of a car, an evil twin grandfather, a pregnant mistress, a toilet bomb, and a plot to infect the entire population with a virus released into the water supply.  A few rewrites and I think they'll have a winning script.

What a coward. My goodness.
I'd even risk my relatively youthful life for the absolute ingrates that are my nieces and nephews. Seriously, they make the granddaughter from Gran Torino look like a saint.
I can't imagine how anyone could be so completely devoid of character.

FTFA: "The kid was just wearing his little underwear," White said. "He was out of it. His arms were flapping around. Everybody just started crying."

This has completely different meaning if the story is about a sexual assault.

I hope I'm never in a situation to find out if I'm a coward or a hero. The electronic control box of a machine caught fire at a place I used to work, I was paralyzed halfway between the fire extinguisher and the machine, I could not decide between getting the extinguisher or unplugging the machine. I always panicked easily, that was around 25 years ago and I'm even worst now. It's so bad that I had to quit working and take one hell of a reduction in income. I hope that one day me, and the professionals I'm seeing will get my situation under control so I can go back on the job market without throwing up every morning.

So excuse me if I do not judge the guy. He might have mental health issues too.

Don't firefighters tell people not to go running back into the house? Then they just have to save two people instead of one.

Also, the grandfather may not have known they were still inside until he was already out himself. I would expect everyone to evacuate themselves rather than trying to arrange a meetup group inside an inferno.

WTH?

If I were watching the kids I'd check the rooms and closets first before ducking out.

Gramps better cough up one helluva Christmas present this year as an apology for utterly failing as a human being.

I'm quite the racist piece of shiat, and even I feel really bad for the kids.  They have no shot at life with parents and grandparents like this.  Bolting without taking the kids?  I can't even imagine running out first and then having to live with your grandkids dying because you're devoid of a soul.

/well, more devoid than usual for the welfare recipients

Yeah these were very young children that he was supposed to be responsible for, not independent adults. I don't know why anyone in that position would assume that they got out on their own, especially the 4 and 5 year old. Even if the other occupants were adults, I still think any decent person would at least attempt to check for others before fleeing.

Honestly..... When was it OK for these racists to feel like they could be so blatant? Throughout the nineties and early 2ks they kept their mouths shut unless they were in a one on one situation with a fellow dick bag. Now everywhere I go I seem to find these pieces of shiat everywhere openly spouting vile remarks from their mouths. And they do it like it was 1950 or something. I suspect is has something to do with Nov 4th, 2008. I can't wait for the day when it isn't ok for these farkwads to talk like this again.

While not supporting the grandfathers actions, I have had the experience of waking up and finding the interior of my apartment in flames... and I just spent several minutes trying to think of words to describe how scary it was but had to give up... it was just too scary to really describe.

Kudos to the Fire Fighters who run into the circumstances everybody else runs from.

The grandfather, "inexplicably bolted" from the apartment.

The apartment was on fire...

It's chickenshiat, but not inexplicable.
