(Politico)   Obama immigration moves will be so outlandish and unheard of that they will certainly be illegal and lead to his impeachment....or at least getting his ass sued, or something. I dunno. It's bad, okay? Maybe   (politico.com ) divider line

The good thing about them almost certainly impeaching him is that he can do these things without having to worry about how they will react.

I rarely ascribe to the philosophy "as long as you're doing the time, you might as well do the crime" but in this case it seems warranted. If they're already planning on suing you, do what you want and let the courts sort it out.

Obama should executive order all the things. The heads-on-fire ravings from the right will show moderates and independents their true extremist character, and the right's ineffective impotent failings will show the extent of their abilities. Give the right an opportunity to show what a circus sideshow it is, and they will succeed spectacularly.

Because the last time there was an impeachment (Clinton) it was a huge political victory for Dems and they picked up significant seats in the mdterms. With as bleak as 14 looks right now, an impeachment proceeding, based on principals the public doesn't understand, would potentially get more Dem votes and certainly increase fundraising.

The Repubs know this too which is why the relevant Republican leadership is not advancing impeachment proceedings and it's only the lunatic fringe of the party which is promoting it.

... Well thank you captain obvious... that statement is so redundant, that its unbearable. That's the point, they are the entities that control our legal processes and if they do anything at all, it will raise legal questions.

You're right that many in the GOP want her to stfu. You're wrong about her relevancy, though. She's a living embodiment of what the GOP has become. The party can't succeed without pandering to voters who love her. That's their own dishwater to soak in, and it's got nothing to do with 'farklibs.' Deal with it.

I think impeachment is the reason behind the lawsuit.  The Republicans want him to not respond or not fully cooperate so they can impeach him for obstruction of justice.  It's the same setup as the Clinton impeachment, except they don't even have a blowjob so they are suing him because reasons.

Sure they are. And I don't blame them one bit. They (the GOP) have been talking about impeachment since he day Obama was sworn in and have fund raised of it, and the repeal of the ACA for quite some time.

How many times have you heard a GOP candidate recently  say "Send me to Washington so I can repeal Obamacare!"? Ignoring, of course, the fact that some 50 or 60 votes have been taken and lost, Obama will be President until Jan 2017 and has in his presence this little thing called a veto.

As for fund raising off of impeachment, it is a wise move by Dems. Because if the GOP could find the slightest reason to bring charges, they certainly would.

"'If the President may constitutionally permit fifteen per cent of the Nation's illegal immigrant population to remain in the United States without fear of removal, why may he not do the same for fifty per cent of that population, or for all of it?' George W. Bush Justice Department officials John Yoo and Robert Delahunty wrote after Obama unveiled DACA in 2012."

I was going to add some snark about "Why doesn't Obama just declare them enemy combatants and stick them in a hole somewhere? We laid the groundwork, and even built a fully-functioning prison (in 4 days! Who says American ingenuity and work ethic is dead?), and this jackhole won't take advantage of it? Classless!" but then I serious'd.

Why anyone would listen to anything John Yoo has to say that isn't muffled by cotton and flowing water is beyond me. I wouldn't listen to him dictate a shopping list, let alone offer his "expert legal" anything on anything.
