I once worked at a place with random drug screening.  Two example of "randomness":

Engineer with shoulder-length hair got screened far more often than anyone else.  It stopped when he got a haircut.

Employee who was also winner of county beauty pageant, had community service obligations to fulfill.  She chose to research drug treatment options available in the county.  Went to HR to ask about the company's options available for employees, next day got hit with a random screen notice.  Went back to HR with some followup questions from first visit and got randomized again the next day.

Perhaps Brees can put the NFL's concerns to rest by saying he plans to stay in shape by beating his wife in the offseason.

Ha ha silly article expects me to believe the NFL actually conducts drug tests using the urine of the player being tested.

Aft3er practice the Saints quarterbacks (and Sean Payton ) do this weird quarterback competition where they run towards these 5 big pylons with footballs on top. A fat guy is throwing tennis balls at them. If they reach a pylon without getting hit by a tennis ball they get to try to throw the football at a target downfield. I dunno if it is good qb practice or not but its kinda hilarious to watch.

So wait a sec subby, you remember a guy by the name of George Blanda?

Played until his 40s at QB, so yeah considering all the fitness changes between Blanda's time and now, Brees could play until his mid-40s.

Looks like good practice for moving around in the pocket. It is interesting  to see Drew's economy of motion compared with the others.

Hundreds of nfl players get tested every year. Two players have test that seem "not random". OMG CONSPIRACY!!!

I could never do that on my best day. But I could be a fat dude throwing tennis balls I think.

Fat dude throwing tennis balls has to make 100+ throws to each player's five. :/

Give me the cannon from American Gladiators.

I liked the video from the first day where a guy swerved back and forth driving the cart with cones on either end and the QBs competed to see who could throw the most through.  Drew lost bad and was clearly peeved telling the camera guy that Ryan Griffin had won.  "So, um, on the FIRST day..."

When we're discussing a football player, does playing until 45 refer to age, or IQ?

The guy throwing the tennis balls probably had a goal, dreams. Went to school and graduated in sports medicine or something. Highly educated.

On here? He's forever known as "fat guy throwing tennis balls"..

He's something like 63% head by body volume..damn near impossible to tackle him without hitting it

I'd be very interested to see the stats on how many get tested vs. how many did something "special" beforehand that they thought warranted it.  The article gave two examples total.  That means precisely dick, unless only 5 people have been tested in the last year.

With how little info they gave in the article, this appears to be nothing more than a journalist misunderstanding the rules of large numbers, random sample, and the fallacy of misleading vividness.  Not saying testing is random, I'm just not seeing any evidence for bias here.

Imagine how long Jurgensen could have played had he laid off the booze and trained. He played to a pretty ripe age anyway.

Disciple, maybe. The master is still Tom Brady.
