Look, after the last session of the Supreme Court, if Democratic voter turn-out is low, we might as well hand the keys of the country over to the Republicans.

Sticking It To The Libs

Since 1988, the ONLY thing that matters.

somedude210: Ow! That was my feelings!: Liberal/Progressive types have a bigger problem than you guys are willing to admit.

Yeah, but you're forgetting one thing. The GOP doesn't have anyone to counter her. The liberals will suck it up and vote for her only because anything the GOP puts out will be 1000x worse.

I'm not forgetting anything. Democrats seem to have forgotten you don't win the WH with a regressive, dated, yesterday candidate. We are looking forward, not backward. They knew that in 2008, they seem to have forgotten.

Running a retro-Corporatist is not in the best interests of the USA or the Democratic Party.  Hillary will never be POTUS. Smart Dems should be looking for a real Democrat to run.

ferretman: Low democratic voter turn out will be blamed on Republicans; due to "racism, voter ID requirements and redistricting".

Remember when Republicans started the whole mess by blaming McCain's loss on voter fraud and ACORN?

IrateShadow: Maybe the democrats wouldn't have an enthusiasm problem if they weren't just republicans-lite.  When the only thing you have going for you is that the other side is absolutely terrible, people tend to sit out.

I hear that, but then who shows up to vote for Democrats consistently? the moderates.  Why appeal to fickle liberal voters who will abandon you in a heartbeat and just stay home?  Why push liberal policies if all it will do is cost the Democratic politician enough moderate votes to have any progress gained rolled back (and then some) while losing re-election. Maybe if the "liberal voters" showed up in the mid-terms and were consistent about it, they would matter enough to move the Democratic Party more left.  All the liberal wing of the Democratic voter base is doing by not showing up is shooting them and their cause in the foot.  Not only are they guaranteeing their agenda gets thwarted by weakening the Democrats and forcing the Democrats to move further right, they are also empowering the GOP and the GOP's agenda.

Do you want more liberal policies then get out and vote in the midterms in force, and give the Democratic candidates the actual ability (and reason) to push a liberal agenda? Quit making the pushing of liberal policies career suicide due to the mid-term voter apathy of liberal voters.   The only way that liberal voters can make this happen and move the Democratic Party away of being a center-right party is to show up at the freaking mid-terms like they do the general election.

I'm a libby, lib, lib, but raised in the South. I love me some Waffle House  (In limited quantities of course).

They know a liberal, especially after a night of drinking, loves them some Waffle House (including myself).  It's just a new and effective style of viral marketing campaign.

1.  Either create a new business or have an existing one.
2.  Start a rumor that the liberals are staging a boycott of said business to due to [insert right wing talking point].
3.  Have massive hoards of right-wingers patronizing your business in order to "stick it to the libs".
4.  Profit.

the disenfranchisement efforts by republicans also include eliminating early voting and making it harder for college kids to vote you forgot to include those in your list.

the best way to get right wingers to say racist and sexist things is to have Michelle Obama speak, they should have her on tv making benign remarks from now until November and watch all the spittle flecked rage with sausage fingers clenched from conservatives and libertarians.

I've noticed that she's encouraging high voter turnout. Which Republicans will call another evil act.

That would be like making Gary Busey your designated driver.  Sure, the ride will be exciting but you're going to end up in a flaming, bloody wreck in the end.

I too wish that the Dems break their usual pattern of sitting out midterms to their own detriment.

I would also like a cookie and maybe a pony who's butt plays the opening notes of Ode to Joy when it farts.

And a flying car.

What I'm saying is I'm hoping for this but not betting the family farm on it happening.
