I too wish that the Dems break their usual pattern of sitting out midterms to their own detriment.

I would also like a cookie and maybe a pony who's butt plays the opening notes of Ode to Joy when it farts.

And a flying car.

What I'm saying is I'm hoping for this but not betting the family farm on it happening.

Look, after the last session of the Supreme Court, if Democratic voter turn-out is low, we might as well hand the keys of the country over to the Republicans.

Probably not a good idea to be eating midterms, even for Democrats.  That's a good way to fail the class, especially if it's like 25% of the grade.

Democrats not showing up the polls is the same as handing Busey the keys. It would be a very bad thing if Republicans got both the Senate and the House.

the best way to get right wingers to say racist and sexist things is to have Michelle Obama speak, they should have her on tv making benign remarks from now until November and watch all the spittle flecked rage with sausage fingers clenched from conservatives and libertarians.

I live in Massachusetts so my vote is meaningless--the Democrats will win here come what may. Recently the Republicans have demonstrated that it is quite possible and relatively easy to commit voter fraud--by enthusiastically doing it themselves. If they can do it, why not us? So my question is, in which state would my fraudulent vote be of most value? Should I head up to New Hampshire and try to sway the election there? Or should I sneak into a purple state like Virginia or North Carolina? Also, the Republicans have shown that it's quite simple to cast multiple votes for their candidate. Do you think it would be worthwhile for me to attempt this? Now that ACORN is gone, who will arrange for my bus ride to multiple polling sites?

This is important, folks. Your fraudulent vote matters!

Uneducated, low-information voters tend to only vote for the Presidential election. And even then, sometimes with the prodding and free transportation to the polls to do so.

OMG.  Buzzpo is my new favorite webpage.  There are so many great headlines.  I love this one:
Wise Words From Rep. Steve King

Steve King has never said anything wise.  He's the definition of a loudmouth.  Here's another great one:  Livid!-Obama the Classless Community Organizer

"Classless" is the new THUG.  Any time Daily Fail or Fox News posts an article about a black person that isn't Herman Cain, the comments will inevitably decry the "classlessness" of said person.  Beyonce and Michelle Obama are always guaranteed to be referred to as "classless".

I hear that, but then who shows up to vote for Democrats consistently? the moderates.  Why appeal to fickle liberal voters who will abandon you in a heartbeat and just stay home?  Why push liberal policies if all it will do is cost the Democratic politician enough moderate votes to have any progress gained rolled back (and then some) while losing re-election. Maybe if the "liberal voters" showed up in the mid-terms and were consistent about it, they would matter enough to move the Democratic Party more left.  All the liberal wing of the Democratic voter base is doing by not showing up is shooting them and their cause in the foot.  Not only are they guaranteeing their agenda gets thwarted by weakening the Democrats and forcing the Democrats to move further right, they are also empowering the GOP and the GOP's agenda.

Do you want more liberal policies then get out and vote in the midterms in force, and give the Democratic candidates the actual ability (and reason) to push a liberal agenda? Quit making the pushing of liberal policies career suicide due to the mid-term voter apathy of liberal voters.   The only way that liberal voters can make this happen and move the Democratic Party away of being a center-right party is to show up at the freaking mid-terms like they do the general election.

I'm a dirty, filthy RINO (even worse than a libby lib liberal), and although I've lived in the South for almost 20 years now, I never ventured into a Waffle House until Christmas morning a few years ago.  Visiting family in SC, and the only one in the house who drinks coffee.  Everything was closed-EVERYTHING-except for the Waffle House (my evangelical in-laws informed me that it's because Waffle House is owned by "The Jews").  Went in for coffee and was pleasantly surprised to find a decent steak and egg breakfast with passable hash browns!  It is now my own little Christmas tradition to head over to the Waffle House for a big pot of coffee and breakfast as soon as all the unwrapping is finished.

I know, right?!  I pointed out that at least a third of the menu involves pork or mixing dairy and meat, but I only received blank stares in response.  Besides, according to my relatives in the Bronx and Brooklyn, The Jews already have the lock on Chinese food at Christmas.

100% THIS!

Why appeal to people who don't vote? If you don't vote, you don't matter so screw you and your impotent rage.

If you want politicians to represent your side, be a consistent voting bloc, a group that the politicians know is politically active. Make them depend on your support, and once you have established yourself as reliable, then you can flex your political muscles and demand change. After all, why do you think the radically ignorant right-wingers have so much sway over the party? Because they vote. They actually get off their butts and vote, unlike the lazy whiners on the far left who go on and on about "both sides are bad" and then let the worst side, the far right, have all the control.

2010 happened because of idiots not voting. I fear a repeat in 2014. But if the idiots on the left against don't vote (and there's not a single reason I'll respect for why someone sits out) then I hope things get worse. And I hope the people who didn't vote get screwed the hardest. Because maybe then they'll learn.

After all, why do you think the radically ignoran ...

Is there even a 'far left' anymore outside of Fox News fearmongering and bullshiat GOP quotes? The GOP has done such a good job pissing their pants and pretending we're under attack from Stalinist forces that 'the left' doesn't mean anything.

Voting didn't seem to matter a whole lot in 2000, and local elections are pretty much all gerrymandered, so there's that.

Sticking It To The LibsSince 1988, the ONLY thing that matters.

As a liberal, it's flattering to know that the average conservative cares so much about what I think that every decision they make is based on my opinion.

As a liberal, you know what would REALLY piss me off? Universal healthcare. Just the idea that no one would be individually hurt due to using some of the most advanced medical practices on the planet. I'm constantly enraged at the idea, and I do hope that no patriotic American would dare impose such a system just to spite me.

Have President Obama give that speech and within 6 months, Sweden would be telling us to back off on the socialized healthcare.

Ow! That was my feelings!: Liberal/Progressive types have a bigger problem than you guys are willing to admit.

Yeah, but you're forgetting one thing. The GOP doesn't have anyone to counter her. The liberals will suck it up and vote for her only because anything the GOP puts out will be 1000x worse.

I'm not forgetting anything. Democrats seem to have forgotten you don't win the WH with a regressive, dated, yesterday candidate. We are looking forward, not backward. They knew that in 2008, they seem to have forgotten.

Running a retro-Corporatist is not in the best interests of the USA or the Democratic Party.  Hillary will never be POTUS. Smart Dems should be looking for a real Democrat to run.
