Hmm.  Young, educated people (maybe a little too idealistic yet) that see a problem with the world and want to find a solution.... or old, angry people that hate the fact that the world has changed from the sitcom episode they falsely remember it as and wish to move it backwards??? Can't imagine which group would come up with more compelling and effective methods.

And what dookdookdook said.

Even if they are more occasionally right than conservatives protesters, I'd caution against giving them THAT much credit.

I was expecting more pictures.

By the time they've gotten the hoverrounds charged up and ready for battle, the left has already taken the high ground.
Not that the hoverrounds could make it up to the high ground, but you know what I mean.

Why are there no such groups working with the recent waves of right-wing protests? "I can't say," van Balen said. "Maybe because we organize collectively and work together."

Teehee

But seriously, the people that back right wing protests have "an understanding" with the police in the form of massive amounts of cash.

thenewmissus: Because the protestors on the left are usually more educated than the protestors on the right.  Oh.........and we tend to live in reality.

There's a recent study about why college-educated people sided with the Tea Party. Basically, if you were raised in a truly white area where you never met a minority unless it was that one off-color kid in high school you never talked to or you traveled into the city, you were more likely to side with the Tea Party, whereas those who were more integrated with people of other races, you tended to go more liberal.

I thought it was because it's always fun to beat up on anarchists.

2014-07-28 09:08:06 AM
Ok....well, I guess they should be proud. Except the Right is better at voting in large blocks and actually getting their legislative agenda put into place. Which I suppose is almost as good as having a mylar cube.

When did that start?

2014-07-28 09:11:09 AM
Because a large chunk of the protesters on the left are professional protesters, paid for and bused in by unions and other lefty activists. They also tend to be unemployed, or working part time as a barista and thus have more availability.

An article about all the objects at a protest with one picture? Come on daily beast even huffpo would have had a slideshow.

Way before 2010, it just became a lot more obvious then.

Come on, try harder.  You can do better than this.

This time, demonstrators threw the inflatables at advancing officers. "The whole demonstration changes instantly," Grindon explained. "The police have to decide what on earth they are going to do with this thing. If they throw it back, suddenly they are playing beach volleyball with anarchists, or they try and arrest it in which case they look completely absurd. They're climbing on this giant balloon and their robocop suits don't look so sensible anymore."

why? it turns the bullies that make up law enforcement polite and professional and it isn't like the protestors are shooting anyone they're just exercising their rights to carry a gun.

Are the Victoria and Albert Museum folks trying to insinuate that a red white and blue gimp suit isn't being at least a little creative?

The conservative right's ability to protest has been severely limited since they were forced to start taking their hoods off.

/what?
//Byrd spittle in 3...2...

-------------------
I'm sure it really has to do with the views most associated with the two sides and how am radio works for conservatives and not liberals. Peace, tolerance, anti war stuff can get lots of people to turn out and express their views. Anti tax stuff and government spending finally got conservatives to turn up for something...but I'm not sure you'll get reasonable protests to get rid of affirmative action, the civil rights act, or all the other things conservatives hate. But, they love listening to the radio getting mad at all the things ruining America.

This. Protesting needs to go hand in hand with other kinds of organizing, like raising money, lobbying politicians, and getting voters excited. The Left isn't terrible at these things by any means, but they aren't as good at it as the Right. And the further left you go the worse they are at it.

Mob mentality is a real thing and putting guns in the hands of a mob isn't a great idea unless you want an actual armed confrontation which will end with a lot of disorganized protesters being gunned down by the police and what with the stellar accuracy of police in past gunfights probably a lot of innocents as well.  I don't think that gunfights on the street would win many people over to a cause.  If I were going to a protest (something I would never do anyway) my guns would stay locked in my safe.

companies spend millions of dollars on social media advertising so there's obviously some level of return on those ad dollars spent. Curious if the right wing takes a shiat on social media because they are generally a bunch of geezers who are scared of social media or if it is about controlling the message and how social media prevents that.

Because one side is full of condescending asses who have as much faith in the human race as they have for a McDonald's hamburger and the other side is full of people who only JUSTIFY the asses to have as much faith in the human race as they would a McDonald's hamburger?

I...I'm now hungry for some reason.

That, and there are very few political districts drawn up to favor the further left-leaning candidate.

Then what  were they meant to do - is this another one of those flavor-of-the-month raising awareness things? I keep forgetting whether the absolutely essential moral imperative of the moment  that calls for immediate action until next week is Gaza or Darfur or those Nigerian girls or whatever Kony is up to, or maybe it's fracking or gluten or GMOs or Darfur or nuclear power or banks or Monsanto or thimerosal or...gosh, it's been a whole two weeks since we slobbered all over Elizabeth Warren...
