And paying Ms. Palin for her words of wisdom is better than being forced advertising from the lamestream media how?

Mr. Pot, the kettle is black.  The question is do you want to pay by cash, or be forced to watch advertising?

Oh, I think Ms Palin is doing it exactly how she should.  Let the market decide.

As if she isn't going to (try to) peddle her site to advertisers.

/oh, and lol

You are a bad person, subby.

So who's running the pool.  I'm gonna go with silent demise of the site in August 2016.  Gonna give her the benefit of campaign build up and chatter, a few months of praise or random indignation depending on the party in the WH.  The web-site might actually last longer than her time as governor, her tv show, her bus tour, or her Fox contract ... well, maybe not the Fox contract but that would be amazing.

Every current-events comedian will no doubt subscribe.

And I think she is right about the decline of the Washington Post...probably the first and last time I'll ever agree with her.

This will go over as well as Glen Beck University.

$9.95 a month? Only if she's drinking twice as much as Drew.

At least it will be easy to tell the difference between what the (for now) paid staff writes and the catastrophic head trauma word salad she spews, you betcha.

Whoever edits her work -- assuming there is such a person -- should be on danger pay for the next nine Olympics. It has to be like translating an unpublished novel Anthony Burgess wrote under ether via an Apple Newton to a Navajo speaker in a bathysphere at the bottom of the Marianas Trench who then sends it via African clicking language to a deaf mute working in an F5 hurricane atop a poorly-maintained flagpole. And then it goes on her AOL account.

When I was young, we had the NY Herald Tribune, itself a compilation of two newspapers, and the Journal American, ditto. Their last hurrah was the World Journal Tribune.

Newspapers have been dying since the beginning. A few venerable ones were able to keep going, such as the WaPo and NY Times, but they are going fast. We may yet see their demise to internet news sources.

2014-07-28 09:23:42 AM
I think this is what we've all been asking for, she is actually going away.  I hope this means that if I don't pay the $10/month I will never have to see or hear from her again.  At least until presidential primary debates...

Is Glenn Beck actually relevant anymore since he started the paid thing?  I assume it's bringing in money, but he seems to be much less prominent.  Of course, I might just be better at avoiding him.

"Are you tired of the media filters? Well, I am. I always have been. So, we're going to do something about it," she says.

If the media filters worked worth a damn, we'd only hear white noise when Palin appeared on the TV.

Well, we kinda already do, but you know what I mean.

2014-07-28 09:31:32 AM
Undoubtedly, my sucker parents will subscribe. They're already shelling out good money for a reagan.com email address.

Short of  broadcasting comic hardcore skank porn, I'm not seeing it. Even Teabaggers, who pay initially for this kind of  content, are going to soon become embarrassed that they paid good money for such shiatty content as this.www.thefrisky.com
Sarah, just cut to porn. It's only a matter of time before you're bumped to granny po...times a wastin

This should be interesting the next time that she gives a speech while drunk off of her ass, Will she dub in other audio, cut thing thing into tatters before posting it, or just pretend like it doesn't exist at all?

cc_rider: With all these paid-subscription channels coming out, I wonder how long until the the Right-wing Noise Machine reaches peak derp?

Every time that you THINK it's been reached, they climb just a little higher on the meter... We're in dangerous territory, nobody knows what's gonna happen, because the Derpometer was never designed to read this high, and they haven't had any time to re-calibrate it. Things could get messy here. Hopefully Santorum won't be the one who makes it blow its top.

One thing Sarah Palin is very good at, and I can easily admit this now matter how detestable I find the woman, is that she's very good at pandering to, and fleecing, her base.

One would think it can't be that hard, considering that her base is a bunch of rubes who believe everything they're told, until you realize that in order for them to believe what they're told, you have to tell them only the things they want to hear. Nothing new, nothing factual, you can only ride the hard line of confirmation bias.

And that requires either a consummate actor, or a truly terrible human being.

2014-07-28 09:45:47 AM
So it's like Wifey.com without the money shots?

Does anyone else see this as her quickly becoming a female Pat Robertson? Without the promise of heaven awaiting those she separates from their trailer rent?

Grifters gonna grift.

Are you comparing Sarah Palin to some kind of political blue balls? All build up, but never any actual pay off?

Very appropriate.

2014-07-28 09:48:35 AM

unyon: Oh, I think Ms Palin is doing it exactly how she should. Let the market decide.

But when her show stops, it won't be because she was bleeding money and no one wanted to subscribe.  It will be because she decided to "pursue other opportunities."

2014-07-28 09:49:57 AM
Sooo... it's a site... to counter the 'media filters'... where Sarah will talk about what she wants to talk about.

Fark can go ahead and take the rest of the week off. Nothing funnier will happen.
