(Vimeo) Video So what does it look like when you duct tape a GoPro to a car tire, then drive around town? Ever see the end of '2001: A Space Odyssey'?   (vimeo.com) divider line 30

+1 to you!
This is amazing! I want to do my next music video this way.
Video challenge- who has the chops to stabilize this video so we can see where he was?

Possibly Kubricks masterpiece. Nice Pink Floyd match up with Echoes for the stargate sequence.

HAL one of the best villians. Cold calculating and ruthlesss. Of course a good dose of batsh*t crazy helps.

If you enjoyed it, get the book. Takes maybe 5 hours to go through, and the movie barely scratches the surface of his flawed programming.

Do Vimeo videos load really slow for everyone or just me?

I was expecting something much more interesting than that.

Now if someone could build a tire that you could mount a GoPro into so that it filmed outward from the surface of the tire, that would be nuts.

Why did they dissolve to the shot of the gas pump? Totally took me out of the moment.

Can you image watching that video...alone?

...without even a tormentor for company?

Looks cool, but I'd like to see it done during the day.  Much more colour variety than the artificially lit night.

no way that was "duct taped" to a wheel.  if that camera was off center even a little bit, the force of the unbalance would fling that camera right off at that RPM.  Clearly someone created a special hub-cap with a mount.

He says right in the comments that it was duct tape. The GoPro is pretty light. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

This is why I don't own a GoPro.  I always see them on sale and think "Hey!  That would be cool to have" until I have it and realize I have no use for one.

The sky divers and mountain climbs, makes sense.

But more often than not it's guys with too much money and nothing better to do.

It was cool until the recording frame rate couldn't keep up with the rpms and tearing in the video started to occur.

Pretty sure that's the playback.

One of the Vimeo commentators has a few videos like this shot in the daytime.  It really doesn't work as well, IMO.
