For a second I read that as Los Pollos Hermanos and got a little too excited.

I wish El Pollo Loco would come to my part of Texas.

Los Pollos Hermanos was pretty much based off El Pollo Loco. Even the commercial at the begining of the episode was an homage to the El Pollo Loco commercials that were running at the time.

El Pollo Loco is why I don't believe that Chick-Fil-A is the best chicken fast food in the US. Presentation aside (sandwiches vs. plates), the chicken at El Pollo Loco tastes a lot better than Chick-Fil-A.

And Florida.  It's sad that when I visit home in CA I have to waste at least two of my meals catching up on fast food places. :P (in&out the other)

Their chicken is much better for you, too. I was a partner in a very similar restaurant. We were doing pretty well until we got burned out working so much. I sold out several years ago and am so glad not to be in that business anymore.

But I do miss the chicken. I make some on my rotisserie every so often.

The only thing I hate about Los Pollos Hermanos is you have to ring that bell for a long time before you get service.

They had a location for a few months in Atlanta, but it didn't work out.

Not sure why.

I remember seeing one off Panola Rd and was like "huh.. El Pollo Loco expanded east".. then the next time I was down that way it was gone.

Wiki says they tried expanding into Atlanta, Boston, Jersey and Norfolk, but the expansion failed and they closed all those locations.

The one on Buford Hwy SHOULD have gone gangbusters, but it hardly ever had any business.

Being from California and having worked at EPL while in HS, we would make a pilgrimage of sorts to the location on Thornton Road (the one closest to us but still kinda far). I LOVE their chicken. Was chrestfallen when all the locations in metro Atlanta started closing.

I guess people didn't get it as it was not deep fried and served on a bun or next to mashed potatoes. Also it could be that to most Southerners Mesican is burritoes and enchiladas stuffed with shiatty ground beef, drowned in queso with a side of salsa that could pass for ketchup (what most full service chain Mexican restaruants in Georgia pass off as Mexican food) and cheap-ish alcohol. So Mesican chicken joint did not compute.
