But I was assured one could only see tigers in Kenya.

It's amazing what people will try and turn into a pet, or living decoration.

Sad fact:

There are more tigers left in captivity than in the wild.

The female tiger was found inside a locked room.

If I had found that tiger, I would have immediately tried the next door to see if there were a beautiful woman behind it.

If we kill half the ones in captivity, the ratio will swing back to wild...

It was bad enough when he sold all that pawned stuff, but when he let his nephew die, that was when I knew that it wouldn't end well.

Police officers, who found the endangered animal after a tip-off from a member of the public, say it is a "complete mystery" how the tiger got there.

poor baby, I'd like to see the miscreants that did that to her locked in a cage with her, their arms and legs broken.

No, no, I wouldn't.  I don't want the poor thing to get food poisoning.

Yeah, the landlord has NO idea who could have brought it there, riiiiight.  More afraid of former tenants than of the tiger no doubt.

Yeah, actually it's even worse than that..

There are less tigers left in the wild, world-wide, than there are in captivity in the U.S.

Check out the depressing map of their former range vs their current range.

Who leaves a perfectly good tiger laying around?

Honestly, who does that?

That's just cruel. To enrich its life, you need to make the tiger work for its food!

I, on the other hand, would have just left those idiots locked in the cage naked, walked away and thrown away the key...

Maybe have a webcam on PPV. Might be good entertainment watching people trying to chew through the bars...

I have the same setup in my basement mind.

Another sad possibility is someone was going to kill that poor cat and use her for medicine.

Still lot of people out there who think ground up animal bones and other parts can be used to cure diseases.

Maybe the tiger wanted a taco, or some other "Mexican" food.

This is danielscissorhands, my game warden from kenya. Bit of an alarmist I'm afraid, but knows more about raptors tigers than most others.

They have, they just choose to use endangered animals for the same reason foodies refuse to eat GM food.

Uh huh. Yeah, a complete mystery how it got there. And the owner of the home has noooooo idea who left it there. Or built the cage it was in. Suuuuuure.

I find that hard to believe. Something tells me that if they threatened to toss him in jail for a few years for it that he'd cough up the perpetrator pretty darn quick. Assuming it wasn't some drug lord... which, I guess it certainly could be. Of course, it could also be some more run of the mill asshole too.

What's with those steps?  Where do they go?

Anybody read The Tiger Rising, by Kate DiCamillo. My first thought after reading the article.

That in itself is a pretty scary thought.
