Except...

The blu-ray is scheduled to be "limited edition" so far, meaning the price is jacked up by a box of crap that includes a die cast batmobile and some stupid cards, the bonus material is all crap and reuses none of the mass of stuff done a decade ago when it looked like there would never be a Batman release, and even though the show has been remastered for HD, WB is jamming 12 to 14 episodes per disc so that remastered show will still look like shiat because it's overcompressed.

WB/DC can fark anything up, and usually do.

/CSB:  As a little tike I was such a fan of batman that my parents actually named my little sister (6 1/2 years younger than I am) "Robin."  I was so excited that we could be Batman and Robin.  Then I had to change her diapers and stuff.  At six years old that got old real fast.

Beat me to it.  Though actually, you can get the 1966 movie for a few bucks, and it's more fun than the series.

I remember watching reruns as a little kid and how my Dad would usually dismiss the show as dreck...except for those occasions when Julie Newmar as Catwoman would appear and then suddenly it was "Hey, sport, whatcha watchin' there?"

Which doesn't explain his Burt Ward tattoo, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Each set will be individually numbered, making it a true must-have for both fans and collectors alike. Collectors will clamor for the sought-after set premiums including:

An exclusive Hot Wheels® Replica Batmobile
Adam West Scrapbook - featuring never-before-seen photos from Adam's own archives
44 Vintage Trading Cards
Ultraviolet Digital Copy of all 120 episodes
Episode guide - includes synopsis of all episodes, photos from the series and a personal letter from Adam West to the fans

I'm a collector, and I won't be clamoring for any of this sh*t. In fact, if that's the way they're going to play it, I'll just buy it season by season.

I just saw that, after reading your post.

I saw UHF in the theater, going with my younger brother and his friend, but there were about 12 of us total in the theater that night.  I don't recall what film the other 90% of the people there were watching that night.

As of now, only LE complete series Blu, complete series DVD, and season 1 DVDs have been announced. No single season blus are coming at this time.

And it's just like WBDC to fark people over that way to sell an overpriced box of crap.

I'm curious about the "remastering".  Did they actually have all of the episodes on film available to re-scan?  I know remastering TNG was a major undertaking since they had to re-edit the original film stock.  I don't see that kind of effort being put in to Batman, especially given the time between the initial deal being established and the release.

Two a week. They showed the episodes in pairs, one on Tuesday night, ending in a cliffhanger of sorts, and the rest of the story on Wednesday night. "Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel!"

I don't understand what you're getting at.

WB or Fox have held the original 35mm masters for the shows since they were filmed. Where else would they have gone since then? And since it was a 60s show, it wasn't edited on videotape, so no reconstruction would be needed, like it was in the case of TNG.

All that was needed for Batman was to scan the negative, do a little clean-up, and voila, new HD masters.

Yeah I think that they missed their window on this several times over. Why they didn't do it in conjunction with any of the movies is beyond me. Then to put it out in a "tweener" year (before BvS) is curious. The interest in Batman is not going away, but you are not hitting it as its peak either.

Rights issues between Fox, producers, WB, and many others.

No one could release the show until those were cleared up.

I think Nick Cage doing a "batman voice" and settling on Adam West instead of the '80s/'90s versions of the stupid voice was literally the single redeeming quality of the Kickass movie.  That's how awesome the '60s series was.

// Speaking of the '90s, there was a collected run of the old series released on VHS, and I think a version on DVD as well.  So it's not like it's been unpublished, it just hasn't been on blu-ray or whatever retarded thing we've named the most recent iteration of the multi-layer HD formats.

Except it has been unreleased, in all formats.

The film from 1966 has always been available. The series itself has been unreleased on home video.

i just want to know if netflix is going to stream it because I just am not going to buy this show on blu.  too expensive and let's face it - only a select handful of episodes are really WORTH re-watching anyway- most were dreadful dreck - and tvland long since burned me out on needed to have it as background noise (i think it was tv land that used to show them, anyway).

speaking of old tv - Dukes of Hazzard is currently running in HD, and that show has aged better than expected.

if you like that show anyway, yeah, it's terrible, but fun.

Oh boy, am I about to make you happy Shout Factory announced yesterday that they're bringing UHF to BluRay, as well as releasing The Compleat Al on DVD.  (Also, Escape from New York, Mad Max, the very odd Phantom of the Opera with Robert Englund and a slew of other interesting things.)

FARK YEAH!

UHF on Blu is also exciting. I just wish someone had kept the deleted scenes on something other than a vhs tape, so we could have a super long cut of the movie.

I'm admittedly really curious to see Batman on BluRay, since the show was filmed in really nice color and on proper 35mm film stock, the better to show off color TV capabilities in the 60s.  It should look pretty awesome if they're doing a good job off of the original negatives.

Coincidentally, would you believe that it may well have been Batman?  Lethal Weapon 2 was the #1 film on UHF's opening weekend, but Batman had been released the month prior, so a lot of people were very likely watching Keaton and Nicholson.

Professor William McElroy is an Egyptologist at Yale University. He suffers a blow to the head during a student riot that results in amnesia. His subconscious creates a new personality as the reincarnation of King Tut. Each time he is struck on the head, his personalities reverse.

TV never got better than Victor Buono playing this character.
