I hope the Reds' Brenda Phillips is healthy enough in three weeks to try her bat-tapping nonsense again. Pierzynski will end that douchenozzle's career on the spot.

If this guy was even the slightest bit productive as a ballplayer, his infantile, borderline psychotic, personality disorder would be tolerable.  Almost charming in the way you admire a beloved curmudgeon.

But he's not.

He sucks.  His plate discipline sucks.  He can't call a game worth his life.  And he pulls attitude with everyone on the field well beyond his limited skill set.

fark him.  Speaking as a Sox fan, don't let the door hit you in the ass, chump.

I thought he was a total douche before I read that.  Now, I just think he's a douche.  Cards have to have someone put on the gear until Molina comes back.  Maybe he'll learn to play ball better and get along better in StL.  Working conditions have to be better than in Boston.  Welcome to StL, hard to pronounce name guy.  Maybe you'll get a ring.  Although, hanging around a bar and bait shop sounds awesome.

I'm sure he plays the game the right way.

If they assign A.J. to McGwire's old locker, maybe he'll find there's still a bit of pop in his bat even at his advanced age. Just give him a straw and let him snort the dust left behind.

It is quite obvious that Cruz is just a back up... it might be time to look for another one as Yadi is getting older. Hope AJ can help out right now... but I'm not holding my breath.

I liked him with the Rangers last year. They could have kept him instead of Geovany drug arrest year-long disabled list Soto

Mr_Juche: To this day, my favorite picture is still him getting popped by Michael Barret. He and the white sox deserve each other.

You mean when Barret sucker punched him while he was walking away after Pierzynski beat him on a play at the plate? And he didn't even knock him down with the punch. If you are going to be a pussy and sucker punch somebody like that, you better at least knock him down with the punch.

If you can't beat 'em, sucker punch 'em.

"The Best fans in Baseball" just has that "America's Team" feel to it as far as self labeling goes.

Do I detect some jealously in the title of this post, CUBmitter?

I agree most Cardinal fans are self-righteous Midwest goobers, but that goes for the rest of the NL Central teams, the Cubs included. Anyway, the Cards offense has sucked balls all year, even with Molina in the lineup (29th in scoring). Part of that, or most of it, IMO, is John Mabry's approach to hitting. They were weak in terms of power last year, but had a sick BA with RISP, so it masked a lot of their offensive deficiencies. Now that the BA has gone down to average, they've been exposed as a no power team that is station to station offensively. If they could steal based like the 80's teams, I could live with this, but they are slow as well.

Pierzynski batting 6th for the Cards in this afternoon's game at Wrigley, per Rotowire.

Back when I the Rangers were about to play the Cardinals in the World Series I got to talking to an old St. Louis fan at a bar in Denton, after chatting about the upcoming series he bought me a beer and said that even though he's a die hard fan he honestly hoped that I'd get to see my team win. Made me wish that more sports fans were like that.

/Best fans in baseball. My one Personal experience means it must be true.

AJ had a solid debut today as a Cardinal.
3 for 4 with an RBI.

That blue chest protector has to go, though.

Nope.  Cardinals fans are just assholes, and they deserve a guy like AJP.  I wonder how the clubhouse will function with two alpha assholes behind the plate.

So the Cardinals have just opted out of the playoffs?
