You know all the suspense and mystery created at the end of Season 4?
Yeah, avoid the trailer, it'll totally ruin it for you.

Wish I hadn't seen it.

Seems pretty anti-climactic to show them as any where other than in the boxcar, but then worse, you see them all boy scouting their way up to Washington.

I don't agree.  Given the realities of casting and TV ratings, I don't think it did anything to dispel the tension or interest in how the next season will proceed.  If you thought there would be an extreme divergence of the overall story, sure, there are spoilers but it should go without saying that a trailer is going to spoil some things. What were you expecting, 3 minutes of them banging on a closed cargo container?

No, I expected not so much progress into Season 5 so soon in a trailer. It's absolutey not necessary. I expected the season trailer to provide more mystery, drama and suspense from end of Season 4 to glimpses of what might be in the immediate show opening episode ie, a trailer for the first episode of Season 5, and not a freakin trailer for what seems a whole bunch of Season 5. It's that simple. I think they've now made the opening season 5 episode that much 'meh' when it didn't have to be.

Looks pretty shiat-tastic.

But it will probably be better than season two.

You'd kind of have to watch it to know it contains things you don't want to have watched. It's not like you can intuit whether or a not a trailer is going to be too spoilery for you. And since trailers are INTENDED to be teasing previews, it's not realistic to say don't watch trailers at all, since the whole POINT is to entice people who might be interested. These TV trailers are MEANT to be watched by fans.

That could be said of anything in a trailer.   Teasers typically are shorter and more obscure like you are suggesting.  Trailers have moved to a 2-3 minute recap of the entire movie/tv season in modern media.  I am sorry you got spoiled in your eyes, but I don't think it delivered anything more than I was expecting them to show.

We also only know some of them get out (Rick, Carl, Michonne, Carol, Daryl... the DC people... and one of the Terminus people seems to be with them) - the rest may or may not be there, may still be at Terminus, and who the hell knows where they are going/what they are doing? I have never had faith that mullet man has the first clue how to "cure" anything, so that could be an interesting twist. (No, I have not read this far into the comics, I can't afford it and as I understand it, it diverges a lot anyway).

Did anyone think the entire season 5 was going to be them in a boxcar? (I may have thought that after season 2, aka the "Lifetime: Television for Women (with some Zombies once in a great while) season, but the show has gotten consistently better since then. This season may top the Governor run, which is my favorite of the bunch and got me back into the show when I had all but given up on it.  (A friend made me start watching it with him again,)

Or they were all going to just stay in the car and talk. Like I said, it's not the end of season 1/ most of season 2 anymore and the showrunners learned that people were bored by all the talking and wanted actual zombies and action on a show about zombies.

The Walking Dead isn't about zombies. It's about survivors.

Of course they were going to get out of the box car.

**SPOILER AHEAD**

But them making an alliance with the Terminus people and going on the road with them on a quest to make it to DC...that was a pretty big spoiler. The "Beth is alive and she's being held captive by...policemen? Doctors?" thing wasn't too bad. But they could have just flashed a single image of Beth and that would have been enough.

At least if they stayed in the boxcar they wouldnt need 45 minutes of commercials to pay for the cost of filming in other locations.

I played the first Season of the Walking Dead game pretty recently. It's a lot better than I expected it to be, and liked it a lot more than most of anything that ever happened on the show. Highly recommend it unless you're very averse to the interactive novel type of genre.

Season 2 of the game I'm not enjoying quite as much, though I guess it beats Season 2 of the TV show.

I'm loving Season 2 of the game more than the first season so far.  Clementine is so awesome.
