what_now: "'The family of the patient stormed the hospital and forcefully removed her and took her away,' Tunis said. "We are searching for her."...what the fark??
ginandbacon: "Earlier this week Sierra Leone's top Ebola doctor, Sheik Umar Khan, was infected with the disease. The 39-year-old doctor has reportedly treated 100 Ebola patients. He is currently being treated by the organization, Doctors Without Borders."I can't even.
ecmoRandomNumbers: what_now: "'The family of the patient stormed the hospital and forcefully removed her and took her away,' Tunis said. "We are searching for her."...what the fark??This is what happens when people feel entitled to exercise old-world superstitions over the realities of science. Hopefully they'll all die, but Darwin never seems to have that kind of luck any more.
Gyrfalcon: Neutron bombs were devised for just this scenario. Kill the people, leave the infrastructure intact.
MaudlinMutantMollusk: ♫ When blood squirts from your eyes, and your guts liquify, that's Ebola... ♫/window seat, please

WTF Indeed: This is all Obama's fault.
whither_apophis: Thank the FSM this is happening half a world away! Man, if there was a way this could cross the globe in a short period of time we'd be farked.People are infectious as long as their blood and secretions contain the virus. Ebola virus was isolated from semen 61 days after onset of illness in a man who was infected in a laboratory. The incubation period, that is, the time interval from infection with the virus to onset of symptoms, is 2 to 21 days. Ebola then spreads in the community through human-to-human transmission, with infection resulting from direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected people, and indirect contact with environments contaminated with such fluids. Burial ceremonies in which mourners have direct contact with the body of the deceased person can also play a role in the transmission of Ebola. Men who have recovered from the disease can still transmit the virus through their semen for up to 7 weeks after recovery from illness.
Bit'O'Gristle: Btw...disseminated itravascular coagulation is pretty much where your capillary "bed" collapses due to clottting, and the blood having nowhere to go, and no way to clot blood anymore....pretty much comes out of every orifice you have. Including your ass, eyes, nail beds, pores. In essence, your blood loses its ability to clot blood, and you leak out from everywhere. Not a pretty way to go.
Piizzadude: Gyrfalcon: Neutron bombs were devised for just this scenario. Kill the people, leave the infrastructure intact.Yeah radiation poisoning is so much better.
Danger Avoid Death: Gyrfalcon: Neutron bombs were devised for just this scenario. Kill the people, leave the infrastructure intact.Yeah, because it might take hours to rebuild Sierra Leone.
archichris: Is it just a question of time before Africa destroys itself with a hygiene related apocalypse?
