Hung Yu-ting escaped through a hole in the fuselage that opened up after the plane plowed into homes
There's a joke in there somewhere.....

Any crash you walk away from...

At the rate things are going this week someones plane will crash en-route to the survivors. Or perhaps the survivors plane back home. If they take one.

"Hello dad...

I just wanted to call and tell you not to buy any lottery tickets in the near future...

Yeah, I just used the entire family's luck for the next 12 generations."

Hung Yu-Ting

They need to do a better job of protecting their Tings.

She must've had her tray table up and her seat back in the full upright position.

Yeah any landing you can walk away from is a good one.

But where would you bury the survivors?

I'm still trying to figure out how the hell you pronounce "XIXI."

I'm going to call it Eleven Eleven.

Bad week for flying.

Flight 101

A good landing is one you can walk away from.

A great landing is one that, after you are done, they can use the plane again.

"How far do you think one engine will take us?"

"All the way to the crash site. I bet we beat the ambulances by half an hour."

Bad: having to call your parents to pick you up after a car crash. Worse: having to call your parents to pick you up after a plane crash

So either A) You've wrecked your car, might even be your fault, but you are still ok and can be picked up

or

B) You haven't wrecked your car, wreck is not your fault, possible settlement time, and you are still ok and can be picked up

Subby, you are not demonstrating a command of this Bad/Worse thing at all.

said Hung's father, Hung Chang-ming, who lives just a few hundred meters (yards) from the crash site.

Part of me is jealous that her flight landed just a couple football fields' walk from her destination.  Sure it crash landed, but now she doesn't have to deal with waiting to deboard the plane, walking through the airport, waiting at the baggage claim, ground transportation, traffic, etc.  Just a short walk and she is home!

Hello mudder, hello fadder,
when I got out, plane was hotter.
Send some buckets.
Send some water.
And remember always hug and kiss your daughter.

True, every cloud has a silver lining... Although I think it was the silver lining of this cloud that broke the engines anyway, but... yeah.

Why would they write "meters (yards)"? It's like, "meters, otherwise known as yards..." -- weird journalism

Close enough for government work.

In the aftermath of a plane crash, I would consider myself quite fortunate to be able to speak to my parents.

It's more likely that the county coroner will pick you up before your parents will if your
plane crashes.

The ONLY way I'll ever be involved in a plane crash is if a plane falls out of the sky on top of me.

Not I, as they've been dead for years, and there's no such thing as an afterlife.

You just jinxed yourself.

------
This is me in every discussion post crash I've had with any older family member:
-yeah, I was involved in a car accident
-are you ok??
-(pause, consider a snarky comment of "you see me standing here, don't you")...yeah fine.
-were you speeding?
-no. I wasn't at fault.
-you sure you weren't speeding?
-no. I wasn't speeding.
-you weren't paying attention, were you??

Great trolling, subby!

I'll happily be the dozenth actual parent to point out, those are both WONDERFUL things, not "bad" and "worse".

"Bad" starts at: "This is the police. Your child has been in an accident. Please come to the hospital to wait outside Schrödinger's operating room for six hours and then discover whether he's dead or alive."

I had to call my mom after a deer wrecked my work car. Asshole brother wouldn't wake up and get me.
