(Huffington Post)   Hi, welcome to Dunkin Donuts. May I suggest a dozen donuts to go with that coffee? You are awfully skinny. Care to buy two dozen donuts?   (huffingtonpost.com) divider line 26

Donut store tries to sell donuts.  News at 11.

I would have ordered it if I wanted it.

Well they certainly aren't selling them in their advertising anymore.  I swear I've heard a commercial where they refer to themselves as "Dunkin Restaurants".  I was convinced that they no longer sold donuts at all.

It's a standard retailing probability game. I can't believe they weren't doing it already.

Big Donut continues to push its unhealthy product on us, without warning us of the dangers. I can hardly wait to die so I can sue them.

Yes, yes I do, thanks for the compliment!

Now off to tj max, I need bigger pants

The two near me don't even make their own donuts. They get delivered before opening so they're already cold and going stale even for the very first customer of the day. That also means that if they run out of something then they're likely out until the following day. Dunkin' use to be quite good, now they're just meh.

Doesn't sound like too hard a sell. Donut? Why, yes thanks.

The problem with this is that by the afternoon, their donuts are already half stale. They should be giving them away by then.

Come to think of it.  What exactly is in that white goo inside the Boston Creme doughnut?  If it's so safe, why can't Dunkin Donuts disclose what is inside the white goo?

Oh wait, they do...on their website.

There is nothing about Dunkin Donuts I like.

One sugar at Dunkins = four/five sugars everywhere else in the US.

Not that interesting. As the article points out, upselling is a common tactic.

I don't think they even bother with the "one sugar" thing. You either get sugar or you don't. Pretty sure their sugar is in syrup form, too.

I am in my thirties. They were never good and the further back you go the more real bakeries there were.

Chain restaurants are mediocre but consistent.

You can tell the writer never worked in retail. They're always pushing you to sell more, and every few months they'd crack down and bug you all the time until the next thing to bug you about comes up. It's pretty cynical, but if you ask customers if they wanted a kick to the balls at least 1/20th of them would say yes, because for many people IQ drops the closer they get to ordering food.

(If you don't know what you're getting before you start ordering/paying, you are an idiot. Take the 15 seconds to think about what you want, then ask for it.)

They are stale as soon as the frozen crap comes out of whatever kind of oven they use to defrost them. I can buy donuts at 9:00 at night from the local supermarket bakery and they are still 10x better than Dunkin'.
/There coffee isn't that great either.

I actually work across the street from one of their "Donut Factories."  Some days I am walking to my car after work and can smell donuts.

Donuts are delicious and all, but it baffles me that people eat them with any regularity.  Hell, I feel guilty eating them at all.  I can't imagine how people eat them every day and stay healthy/thin (if they do).  I can only say that I am jealous of them I suppose.

Of course if I was going to eat a donut, it probably wouldn't be from Dunkin' Donuts as the few times I've had them I didn't think they were very good (way too dry).  Krispy Kreme on the other hand...

Dunkin Donuts are delicious. You don't have to try very hard to get me to have one with my cup of coffee.

If you don't like DD, then just being quiet about for those of us that do is a pretty good option.

Is the bigger story that Dunkin Donuts hasn't been trying to upsell until recently?

Pass on the donut, but I'll take a chedder cheese bagel stick.

Same, I went to Dunkin' once and it was the only time I've ever been disappointed with a doughnut. Krispy Kreme is currently our go to...haven't found an actual bakery close by yet (moved recently).

When I was a little boy, the Dunkin Donuts in our area all had windows from the ordering area into the frying kitchen so you could watch them roll out and fry the donuts. Apparently that's not a thing any longer.

We don't have Dunkin Donuts in western Canada and I never stumbled into one back when I went to the US, so the picture was a bit of a shock. That donut is twice the size of that fat lady's hand ffs! Fatty fat fats.

When in Chicago I'd recommend...
