Sounds like the law is an unfunded mandate to me.  A bunch of these guys signed off on the 2008 legislation requiring us to protect the children.  Now they don't want to pay for it.

Oddly, reminds me of No Child Left Behind.  But as Orrin Hatch reminds us, they didn't worry about how to pay for things back under that under-blah President.

Wow, at the comments on that.

Republicans:  "Do your jobs at the border"
Homeland Security: "Please give us the funding required to do our job."
Republicans: "No."
Republicans on the campaign trail:  "OMG look, Obama is letting our border be overrun!"

"The Executive Branch would like to have X dollars to help contain what you call a crisis."

GOP: "How about no? Does no work for you? What if we put in all this other unnecessary stuff out of spite, then maybe?"

The greatest ploy the GOP has been able to pull has been convincing enough people to only listen to their demands and not what they refuse to do to accommodate them.

It's difficult to take the Administration's proposal seriously when about $700 million is dedicated to fighting wildfire...the real ones, not political ones,

You're going to have to provide a citation for that one.

And even if that was true that's a vital thing. Unless not having the south on fire is a liberal stance.

I don't need to drive to Vancouver BC to see that.

/or take a lovely ferry ride to charming Victoria, home to charming tea shops and gardens.

It seems that the latest proposal is even worse, since they are now tossing money for Israel into the pot too.

It is vital, IMO. As It's hard to take the issue seriously when it becomes just another excuse for pork barrel politics. Either it's an emergency or its not. If it is a crisis then it deserves a focused and targeted solution. If the bill is full of pork then it is not a crisis....

Let it burn, and get Zombie Sherman to oversee it.

The administrations proposal is quite similar, except it has more money for the border and no money for Israel--t still has the $700 million for wildfires. Moreover, the fact that her bill is different reinforces my point that the Democrats are playing games with this so-called crisis.

Because the administration having a different idea than one Senator is clearly evidence of a conspiracy on the part of the party?

And let me guess, if his was identical to hers it wouldn't be giving enough to the border, or if it were hers being identical to his it would be evidence of our lack of commitment to Israel.  If we didn't have the wildfire money which we need especially when Washington state is currently dealing with the largest in its history, we'd be forgoing natural disaster funding.

The fact that her bill is different than the administration's bill reinforces the point that she is not part of the Administration, as you claimed.

And i would call 77,000 children apprehended at the border a crisis.  Your boy Perry seems to think it is.  He's riding around with guns and deploying the National Guard.

LOL. My boy? You clearly have no clue.....the world isn't black and white, you know.

I never claimed that she was part of the Administration. Someone asked me for a citation of where I got the claim about money in the bill being for wildfires and I provided a link. That's it. Your inability to follow a written conversation is not my problem...go back to reading Hop on Pop.

And when asked to back it up you favorited!ed in Mikulski's bill.  They are two separate things.  Mikulski doesn't give the Administration all the money they want.  Why would you link to her bill when asked for a citation about the Administration's proposal?  Your link doesnt even say that the wildfire money is in the Administration's ask.

"Show me evidence that the Administration is asking for $700 Million for wildfires"

"OK, here's something that isn't from the administration that mentions $700 Million is for wildfires."

It's puff puff pass, buddy.  You've been holding that joint too long.
