If they think that's bad, wait till a VW Beetle drives by.

At least it's de-escalated from shooting. Pinching is much more humane.

"They give each one only 20 bullets, not enough to enter a battle," he said, in comments echoed by others. "We buy weapons and ammunition with our own money to defend ourselves."

Only 20 bullets? Man, with the average hit rate of bullets used in firefights, you're lucky to kill anyone.

This is a map from ISIS about what it wants to control in 5 years. This map doesn't list the Islamic territories in the Asia-Pacific areas.

These people mean business.

They may get too big for logistics and other problems tied to size but wholesale slaughter of people who oppose you or who are burdensome to you goes a long way towards making your task easier.

They will have a lot of issues getting that far.

The only reason they have been successful so far is that the areas they have taken over offered no resistance due to them being majority Sunni. Sunnis don't like Al Malaki (obviously), so they see ISIS as a lesser threat than him. That is why so many military members deserted. In areas where there was resistance (Kurdish areas, Baghdad, etc), they had a lot of problems. Hell, the Kurds beat them like a government mule in the areas they went after.

They will have even more trouble trying to take over Northern Africa where there are more organized armies. And good luck taking over Iran, Spain and India.

I'd still take the Israelis in a fight against the entire highlighted area. ISIS doesn't have any jets or tanks as far as I know.

India has 1 billion people in it. Good luck.

Yep. Plus, Israel is no slouch, either

That's ambitious of them, but a common question when interviewing for a job is "where do you see yourself 5 years from now?" and they've answered that very well.

I think it's a bit unrealistic though.   you'll never unite anyone in Africa and Saudi Arabia will not be overrun.  Have fun fighting and dying and living in shiatholes in the desert for the next 5 years though.  I think India will have a problem with being overrun too and they have nukes. And good luck with those parts of Europe that they have carved out too.  That's batshiat insane but only a batshiat insane person would think any of this was remotely possible.

They have jets and tanks courtesy of the incompetent iraqi army.

They'll get crushed by the turkish army and israelis.

That being said, these people are not dumb. Every tactical move they have made has been to gain weapons and teritory from their enemies. They strengthen themselves and weaken their enemies at the same time.
They move very quickly and have learned gorilla tactics from around the world courtesy of their foreign fighters.

They just took a syrian airbase this morning with a huge supply of ammo.

My concern is them gaining men and weapons from jordan and saudi arabia. (Both have very well trained and advanced militaries)

They use a mix of mob muscle tactics, fanaticism, and very slick P.R. work to increase their numbers.

Source? I saw a few variations on that floating around the internet a few weeks back, all of which were of questionable authenticity.

Fanatical or not, ISIS must know that they aren't taking India.

I think the main pain point is if they get large enough to disrupt the oil industry -- either claiming enough for themselves to jack up the price or denying large parts of ME resources such that supply is severely curtailed.

Hard for the sane world to stop religious aggressors from doing well if:

1. You're struggling to avoid major recession
2. Your people demand more isolationism to take care of domestic problems
3. It becomes too expensive to maintain the high-tech "counter" to the low-tech, low-budget, high "willing cannon fodder" holy war the fanatics are waging
4. The locals start to see the fanatics "winning" and decide they want to back the winning side -- whether because they start to believe "OMG God wants this!" or just to remain "sheeple" to avoid getting killed

And no, I'm not really thinking this has a chance -- I'm more concerned with whether these idiots think they have a chance, and whether the local "sheeple" think they have a chance and decide to sign up.

It's societal evolution.  Corrupt and incompetent leaders get killed off whenever there is finally a real war, leaving the guys who are smart enough to put down the loot bag long enough to fight, left with all the treasures.
