In 2012, Americans generated 14 million tons of plastic waste from packaging and containers. Because plastic doesn't biodegrade easily, it sometimes ends up in our oceans where it hurts marine life and may even contaminate seafood.

They have to stop wrapping Christmas toys in these immaculately sealed plastic prisons that require a knife, two scissors, an allen wrench, a blow torch, a hacksaw and three forms of karate to open.

Now that I've spent the last several years making a product and shipping it places, I am no longer bothered by all the details of plastic packaging.  Putting product on a truck and shipping it across the country destroys anything that isn't packaged absolutely securely.

I hate those twisty wire ties inside the packaging. I want to be able to open my Optimus Prime, damn it!

Is it bad that I'm actually, seriously, considering putting my hat in the Waste Management ring, because I think it would a) fulfill my hippie desire to you know, help the planet and apply directly to mechanical engineering in SO VERY MANY ways?  Seriously, who thinks "I'm gonna be a garbage man" as a career option?

I don't need that. I use aluminum foil - never settle for less. That kind of wrap is just the best, to keep your sandwich nice and fresh.

Don't forget a couple of bandages afterwards .

My wife and I always unpackage the presents before they get wrapped. It is ridiculous how many different tools we need.
