A Roadrunner "Superbird". You didn't have to be a douche bag kid with rich parents to own one but it helped.

MoPar or No Car, man.

Too bad they stuck only to listing the dodge named cars only, as the hemicuda needs a mention. Especially if you're having to deal with the Tall Man.

Regardless, they're still Chryslers.  Which means that they will ultimately suck.

There is a guy around here with a GLHS in black that looks like it just rolled off the line.

He bought it from someone up at Mid-Ohio... I can't believe what great shape it is in. It literally looks brand new.

How on earth they talked Carroll Shelby into putting his name on an Omni, I'll never know. Must have been one hell of a meeting.

At the time .. that little POS was one of the fastest things on 4 wheels. Hella fun to drive, and rather "forgiving" of track day stupidity .. unlike most of their RWD contemporaries.

For the weight and "fun" of driving a GLHS.. not much could come close for that price.

I mean.. Yeah .. it was still an ugly numb hatchback.. but it was the best ugly dumb hatchback money could buy.

^ X2  My older brother had an Omni America 5-speed that was a blast to drive, so I can only imagine what driving the GLH S was like.

Actually the central car is the Charger Daytona. Only the blue one is a Roadrunner.

That's a beauty.  Style, class, boldness.  And a red ring on the whitewalls.
They don't make 'em like that anymore.  Just boxes and lumps nowadays.

Wow. I thought it was a Plymouth Super Bird. Looking at pictures of the two, they seem to be essentially identical except for the badging.

Yes, Road Runners were Plymouths. The car in the foreground is not a Road Runner.

Judging by the stripe on the quarter panel that says "Daytona", I'd say that it's a Daytona. A Dodge Daytona.

Used up and rusted out.

Cash for clunkers probably did some damage too.

I had one in the 90's that had, like almost every other Omni ever made, rusted to shiat. But it was a blast to drive. 175 HP doesn't sound like a lot but pre-airbag and 1980's safety regulations meant the car didn't weigh anything. It ran like a bat outta hell.

The door locks also all rusted out. I have no idea WTF Dodge's problem was in the 80's, but door locks would rust out like nobody's business. They'd just mount them to exposed sheet metal and after four or five winters voila! - no more door locks. Or they'd seize and you'd snap a key. I must have made five or six copies of the keys as backup.
