"It's kind of an A and B conversation, and you can C your way out of it," he joked.

Somewhere, a network exec is drowning in his own seminal fluid at the thought of Peyton becoming a analyst/color guy after his playing career is over.

That's what color his ball would be if it got caught in the window that's slamming shut right in front of him.

Still reeling from the SB loss...but 30 teams didnt make it. Peyton will be on a mission again, and the whole team will want to win for Mr. Bowlen. Don't expect any mercy if you play the Broncos this year. They're angry and they are good. Strong contenders barring injury...damn that injury factor.

This. It has that feel of the post-Jacksonville playoff loss in the mid-ninties which rallied the team into one giant laser.  Throw in the Bowlen factor, the Broncos adding some real talent on the D side of the ball in the offseason and it's fairly clear why they're the favorites for the AFC.  As a fan, I for one am geeked for this season.

It's because it's the AFC, isn't it?

Pretty sure they've been doing that since "Cut. That. Meat!" I also remember an article about Peyton that claimed he knows everything about football, but nothing about anything else, which would make him a fine analyst anyway (Trent Dilfer with better stats and a dumber voice).

The Peyton and Eli Hour on ESPN will probably run for twenty years.

Oh man I hope he'd be better than Dilfer. Maybe more like Steve Young? Dilfer rubs me the wrong way every time I see him talk.

a lot of bronco fans were saying the same thing about the loss to the Ravens in the playoffs...

but hey, let's cast superstitions aside because it's getting kind of old - the AFC is in a weakened transitional stage where all the middle-tier teams that used to push the top teams to be better are in rebuilding modes... i mean let's count the number of teams with new coaching regimes in the AFC - the entire AFC South, everybody in the AFC West except for Denver, the AFC North has its own rebuilding issues, and the AFC East is perennially weaksauce outside of New England... the end result here is that the two teams that went all mercenary and loaded up for this coming season (Patriots and Broncos) are rightfully given the best odds in that conference to win

but i'd say the Patriots get the #1 seed - they have one of the easiest schedules in the NFL next year while Denver has to play the NFC West, let's not forget the AFC West didn't roll over for Denver and even tho Denver handidly won the division everybody still gave them a hard time (except for Oakland)... the same might not be said for the AFC East for New England

the Patriots also in many ways out-did the Broncos' mercenary efforts by getting Revis and Browner and getting Gronk back

that said, mercenary efforts and all are great but nobody buys a great defense and both Denver and New England suddenly lack a deep running attack... I wouldn't be shocked to see the 49ers, Seahawks or Saints blow them up in Arizona if they got there... and I don't see Denver getting past New England if the pats get the 1 seed

then again, some goober team like the Jets or Colts could blow by both and ruin everybody's wish-fulfillment fantasies

Admittedly, sure, but with the offseason FA signings they're a viable contender, regardless. It's not like the Broncos would have a losing record if you put them in the NFC this year.

Certainly. They're a contender and was just kidding around. Although the one Bronco game I went to last season wasn't their best.

In the greater New York metropolitan area, anyway. Complete with two-hour wait to board a train at the end. Good times, good times. At least my team won.

A buddy of mine (Hawks fan) went to the game too and he told me stories about the charlie foxtrot that was transportation. CSB: He called me the day before and asked if I wanted to go to the game as the person he was going with was having a hard time flying out of snow-socked Grand Rapids. I hemmed/hawed a lot and eventually declined (huge costs to turn that around so quick plus I was hosting a big party for the game the next day) but you can imagine I was figuratively kicking myself for not going. I mean, this is arguably a bucket-list item, right?  Even my fiance said "dude...what are you DOING?" (She's awesome).

By late Sunday I wasn't kicking myself so much.

Well, the Broncos have been there, what, seven times, and you have to figure you'll get another opportunity someday, someplace warmer.

That game gets better every time I watch it. I just visited the football hall of fame and watched the recap video they showed on the big screen. I cried tears of joy.

Here's to hoping. The window is closing unless Brock Osweiller somehow turns out awesome (not holding my breath).

As a Sun Devils fan...yeah, you're gonna want to draft a QB.

/also, all y'all Broncos fans need to calm down about winning the Eastern Conference AFC. If healthy, the top 6-7 NFC teams would beat the top AFC team

Pretty much. I'm getting post-Elway, Brian Griese vibes.

I personally wouldn't come close to suggesting that the top AFC team would be favored in SB49, but your analogy regarding the crappy NBA Eastern Conference -- their representative did win two titles in the last four years. And it's just one game and Any Given Sunday and all that.

That said, I'm just thrilled to talk football again. And you bring up an interesting topic: Who are the top NFC teams? Granted, we don't know squat about what's to come but who cares. From what I've gathered from various talking heads and sportswriters...

Seahawks (Good offseason and tops until someone knocks them off)
Niners (Still no reason to think they can't challenge Sea)
Saints (Aging, but Brees and such)
Cardinals (bummer about Daryl Washington but they're still deep)
Eagles (Broncos of the NFC)
Packers
Panthers
(would list higher but who's Cam throwing to?)
Bears
Falcons
(Suspect overall roster, or so I hear)
Lions (annual underachievers)
Rams (would list WAY higher but Bradford needs to show us something)
Cowboys (Jerry)
Redskins
Giants
Bucs
Vikings

Packers probably should be above the Cardinals...though how good the Cardinals are seems to be highly debatable.
