The way work has been going for the last few months, I'm going to need this. Looks like I'm cracking the Petron when I get home.

This is one hell of a hangover then.

Wasn't yesterday national hotdog day? Is tomorrow national wet wipes day?

Let this now be a thread about good & affordable tequilas.

7 Leguas Reposado is a good tequila that you can typically find for under fifty bucks (I have bought it on sale for $40 more than once). It's the company that originally distilled Patrón up until 2002 when they couldn't keep up with production. They still grind the agave with a mule-driven stone wheel.

Ha they changed it.

They have tequila in them so I say they do. I am getting wings tonight anyway so that seems like a nice complement.

You've never seen somebody sip tequila and have a content face. There is a reason there are no tequila flavored gums. Although I am probably wrong on that poi t.

Is anybody really excited about cooking with tequila? I mean, let's not kid ourselves here. National Tequila Day is not about food.

Yeah, I have already cracked open the olde vodak. I don't care much for flavoured spirits in the same way I don't like tea or coffee, it just tastes impure.

I really enjoy tequila, so I celebrate for more than one day. Usually start on cinco de Mayo, and wrap up the celebration around the end of April.

Here's something I've never admitted to anyone in real life: I don't really care for tequila. Maybe I've never had the good stuff? I usually like sour, but someone tequila always tastes too sour, or too sweet-sour, for me.

Fark Offten: Sauza Hornitos is a good and affordable tequila. Some people like it so much they drink it everyday.

Yup.  Hornitos Reposado is my every day drink.  Two shots over ice with lime and water in a big tall glass - keeps me hydrated while I'm drinking, gives me a nice cool buzz, and is way less filling than beer.  Patron is for suckers.  If you want a good tequila for less money, get Cabo Wabo.  George Clooney's Casamigos is pretty good as well.  My favorite tequila, especially when I want to have three shots and be out like a light, is Kah Reposado.  55%, smooth as hell, but deadly if you don't watch it.

Oh - and for you Scotch snobs:  I used to be one of you, then I learned better.

I'm not usually fond of tequila. Though I do recall being at one of my cousins parties and a rep was handing out samples of this stuff:

www.cruztequila.com

It was pretty good, especially for tequila. I may have been too drunk at the time to tell though.

// Best way to drink tequila is strait with a pickle juice chaser.

Ehh, I spent Tuesday evening drinking anejo and playing Cards Against Humanity, woke at 5:15pm Wednesday.

The other thing you can do for a good tequila without it costing you a ton of money is age your own.  Get a barrel from here, and throw some Kirkland silver in it.  Kirkland is 100% blue agave tequila and it ages really nice at home.

Well, pickle juice tastes pretty good. It's basically salt and vinegar flavored water. The vinegar gets rid of the burn and aftertaste of tequila instantly and the salt goes well with the tequila. If you haven't tried it, try it.

The Schmerd can drink anything BUT tequila, and frequently does, so I will join in the festivities with some anejo rhum. We cal all have limes, and nobody gets hurt, ok?
