Not all dangerous, but you just don't know when one will snap and kill a kid or mangle an adult.    'He/she has been a perfect pet, we can't believe this happened'  I've heard that on so many shiatbull news pieces it makes me double-sick.

Maybe we can train this pit to find the asshole over at yahoo that makes all the autoplay vids and eat him.

Time to download that firefox addon.  Can't remember the name.

That's not actually how dangerous dogs work, they have to actually bite somebody to get that label.  Most dogs euthanized by the pound are because they've been in the shelter longer than the allowed time, not for being dangerous.

I'm getting a kick out of this because a friend just last night was telling me a story about a woman who brought her chihuahua to a park in our city that is designated for large dogs only.  Two pit bulls immediately started playing with the chihuahua.  One played with the head and the other played with the body.

Yep, and most tend to be pit mixes because:

a) loser gangbanger owners dont fix them
b) pitbull = scary
c) even friendly, energetic 80lb pit bull is farking intimidating

Most pounds also have a high percentage of purebred dogs.  Who wants a mixed "bully" breed?

We had that happen in my town a few years back, only it was a mastiff and a little dog.

We have a few small dog parks now.

Dog parks are bad for dogs anyways.  Disease, pets with zero training, people with zero training.

We went to the Burbank shelter looking for a new kitty.  Passing by the dogs, fully 50% of them were pit bulls/pit bull mixes, and they were female only.  Males got the needle day 1.  That means 1/3 of all the animals they get are killed on sight because they are deemed dangerous.

Don't care about the dogs, but whoever coined the term "forever home" needs to be put down.

// pet owner

// the last I checked, neither pets nor humans live "forever", so the phrase just makes my logical Spock brain throw fits at the retardation of the phrase. Almost other synonymous phrasing would have been better ... right now it gives the connotation of people who love their pets just a tad too much ... you know those people.

This.  Pit bulls are great, but they're super energetic, and they play rough.  My neighbor has a pretty big one, and she's a sweetheart, but when she gets excited (which is pretty much any time she sees a person), she jumps up on them.  Her owner is either too lazy or too inexperienced a dog owner to get her to stop, and it's going to end up causing problems when the dog knocks some helicopter parent's six-year-old on its ass.

I'm not weighing in on the pitbull discussion but if they how described, kinda cruel to keep them apart at the shelter unless there's a reason I haven't thought of.

Come on, this one is not all that bad. They are orphans that either lived from place to place on the streets or get shuffled from shelter to shelter. The forever home signifies them finally finding a family that can deal with the good and the bad. This is not that big a deal.

If you want to pick on one, as a rescuer of dogs (and transporter) pick on the "Rainbow Bridge" one. That one is farking stupid.

The ones who refer to their pets as 'fur babies' or people who think their pet is actually a reincarnated loved one?

CSB: Friend of mine has two Italian Greyhounds rescued from racing in the Quad Cities.  The first week of owning them she was walking them around the neighborhood and had them both on leashes as required for Sight Hounds (can't ever let them off leash because they run).  When about a block from home a neighbor had a little yappy white dog that came running out of the yard to confront the Greyhounds being walked.  As soon as that dog got within range of the Greyhounds one of them snapped that little dog by the head, shook it, and immediately snapped its neck.  That's how she found out that at least one of her dogs isn't good with small animals.  Police responding to the phone call simply said to the neighbor "Her dogs are on leashes, so why wasn't your dog on a leash?"

Try this, not 100%, but it worked with a couple dogs I've tried it on..

when the dog jumps, give it a knee to the chest (forceful, but not too hard)..the dog will realize it is exposing it's undercarriage and that usually stops it from jumping
