"With virtually no fat (0.5g per 100g), the meat has just one tenth of the fat found in a same size beef steak, and contains around one third less calories, with only 148 per steak compared to 230 in a rump steak.

With additional zinc to kick start your immune system and vitamin B12 to boost energy levels, it comes as no surprise that athletes including Great Britain Olympic sprinter Iwan Thomas have confessed their love for the Serengeti steak's high quality protein."

Regular horse is just as tasty.

But zebras have a mean attitude, so you can satisfy yourself there's one less of the b*stards roaming around.

If I had a brand of Zebra meta it would be "Lion's Choice".

Idk about eating random meats. Bushmeat consumption is what transmitted SIV (monkey aids) to humans.

That breed of zebra is allowed to be farmed for meat so you're probably safe. It'll never catch on in the states though since zebras are cute.

Wouldn't horse meat be pretty much the same thing?  With 1/20th the price.

Butchering the bush meat transmitted it. Imagine cutting up a chimp corpse and having a cut on your finger. Eating infected chimp, (given no mouth sores or proper cooking of the meat) shouldn't transmit SIV to people.

Now wild game does have some other issues, namely prions and parasite cysts. But virus and bacterial infections are usually prevented by proper cooking (although some bacterial toxins are heat resistant, so you can get sick but not infected).

Zebra is absolutely delicious. Like a better combination of beef and venison.

I had crocodile, I probably wouldn't eat it again.

It's a rather strange meat, a bit like a meaty scallop. I was very surprised it was a white meat.

I shot a zebra once for some Shona workers I'd hired in Zimbabwe. They craved meat like addicts. They butchered it and left it sitting on rocks in the sun for most of the day. Then they boiled and ate huge chunks and got violently ill. They decided that they had been punished because one of them had played with the zebra's tail, and they were angry with him. I tried to explain the concept of bacteria to them and they thought it was a very funny story.

I disagree.  Cajun alligator bits are an omnivore's delight.  But farmed alligator may have a better flavor than wild (a steady diet of chicken rather than 'catch of the day').  But hey, you don't have to like what I like.

I had charcoal-grilled alligator burger from a freshly killed alligator and also a processed Slim Jim-esque alligator snack when I visited Florida and both were tasty. The texture of venison but the taste of beefy fishy. And salty.

I'd like to eat an alligator egg but I've never heard of them being sold as food.

I swear I wrote my last post where I described alligator as delicious like beefy venison before I read this post where you said that alligator is nasty and zebra tastes like beefy venison

I want to eat a zebra so goddamn bad right now

I had zebra at a restaurant in London last time I was there (can't remember the name of the restaurant; it was near the London Bridge Station). It had a somewhat sweet taste, and I didn't find it tough at all (it was cooked medium-rare). Would have again.

This is actually the moment where Bear Grylls lost me. I wasn't that big a devotee of his, but I had seen several episodes of his show, and thought he was pretty legit, then he pulls this stunt, farking lion-biting a dead zebra carcass! We all know he had a knife right there with him, farking slice off a hunk, you showboating phony!

Compound, multi-subject slashies. It's like dividing by zero or infinite recursion. I like it.

I just ate it, the restaurant made a fine job of all the other meats so I dunno.

Saxton Pope (of Pope and Young fame...) reported that zebra meat has the texture of a rubber car tire and that when they needed local information, all they had to do was bring a dead zebra to a village.....
