So it will be Michelle Nunn versus Perdue to be Georgia's next Senator and she's already up 4 points?

Spiff!

If the GOP's nonstop minority outreach continues as it's been doing and the country's demographics change as expected Texas going blue is practically inevitable.

I guess that is the good part about running in semi-literate states. As long as you have a name that people can remember you get elected even if you are not the candidate they think you are.

What's sad is that Republicans have to play defense in a non-presidential year, and of course they're not going to admit it.

2016 will be a bloodbath.

They're only playing defense on certain races like in Kentucky or in Georgia.

By quark of the senatorial election cycle, the majority of races up in 2014 are being defended by Democrats and it is looking increasingly like that Republicans will at least be able to peel a few seats away from the Democrats (for example, Pryor-Cotton in Arkansas).

Good. Eradicate Republicans/Teabaggers and fill the offices with Democrats.

Then start working on a new, viable party interested in serving the people of this country.

The only thing I know about Sam Nunn is that there's this awesome NY style Italian restaurant in Atlanta that has his autographed picture on the wall.  http://www.yelp.com/biz/alfredos-italian-restaurant-atlanta-2  It's like stepping in time back to 1974 in both menu and decor.

After you enjoy the veal, be sure to check out the nearby strip clubs.  You can make a whole evening out of it.

quatchi: So it will be Michelle Nunn versus Perdue to be Georgia's next Senator and she's already up 4 points?

Atlanta area resident here. The past few months (leading up to the original primary and this week's runoff) have been nonstop ads about which one of these two assholes (Purdue and Kingston) can out-conservative, out-derp the other (though Kingston has clearly shown the edge in derp, which is why I'm kinda surprised he lost). It's been maddening.

People complain about political dynasties (I've always thought it was a stupid argument.. vote for/against someone based on their own merits.. who they happen to be related to is irrelevant [except in the cases of those who get their positions specifically -because- of their relations]), but Georgia is chock full of them. David Purdue is the cousin of Georgia's previous governor, Sonny Purdue. Michelle Nunn is Sam Nunn's daughter. Jason Carter (running for governor) is Jimmy's grandson.

Yes. Just as long as all problems are still the fault of Republicans. Heck, at this rate, it could take centuries to clean up their mess.

LOL WUT?!?!

The GOP's course since the inception and rise of the Tea Party has been one of rabid visceral racism and refusal to embrace anything except the dissolution of the Union. No they aren't going to ask non-whites to vote for them because #1) It would piss off the Tea Party for "pandering" to minorities. #2) Its hard to get people who aren't brainwashed theo-facist evangelicals to vote for you when you blatantly support bills in Congress that are against their best interests.

You have expressed skepticism that a deeply conservative state will, in the very near future, become extremely liberal. You are therefore the teabaggiest teabagger who ever teabagged socialism.

/Have been told the same thing due to my belief that an outright ban on popular sporting rifles is not reasonable.

I've seen the numbers, I understand it's not every race that is defensive. But everything the GOP is doing as a group is defensive. It's also blame passing. "No Mr. President, you need to do your job! (of creating and voting on our bills, apparently)" They constantly project keeping all their seats and winning enough to take the Senate. It's not happening and to that point it's getting progressively less likely with each poll that emerges. And, the Senate races aren't the only races happening, there are some governor races to be focused on too.

It's always defense disguised as arrogance, corruption, and blame passing. Enjoy the three or so seats you "win" Republicans, your ass is grass in 2016.
