Kids these days.. If I'd called the cops on my dad for that stuff, I'd have just gotten a worse beating once they left.

Um physical discipline is not illegal

DNRTA...

Did the parent really "beat up" the kid?  Or was it some sort of fairly typical punishment for not doing what your told?

It is these days.

The ol' backhand from my old man was usually enough to keep my and my brothers in line. I'm not sure if that's acceptable anymore in these times of the Pussification of The United States.

FTFA: Upper Darby police say they counted more than two dozen welts and abrasions on the child's back, arms and legs.

/maybe not the best test case for a pro/anti corporal punishment discussion.

Upper Darby police say they counted more than two dozen welts and abrasions on the child's back, arms and legs...the boy told officers Tuesday that his mother had hit him with her fists and a belt

No fists, no weapons, no problem; there's 'discipline', then there's 'abuse'. This is clearly abuse. I hope she gets the counseling she needs to learn the difference.

/good rule of thumb: don't punish when you're angry
//punish AFTER you are angry, it works out better for everyone involved

If it leaves marks, it's illegal.

/unless it's consensual and both parties are of age.

My daughter, like her mother, bruises easily.

Were my daughter a raging coont, she could easily squeeze her own arms multiple times just hard enough to leave bruises.

I am not saying that this is what happened to this kid, and he if was truly abused in this manner, then charges are appropriate, but kids these days are getting wiser as to how completely lay absolute waste to an adult's life.

If you "discipline" a child in anger, it isn't discipline, it is abuse of power. Period.

Sounds like it's a bit more than the standard smack for backtalk. And the kid reported it at the police station, not sullenly from their room from their cellphone.

sounds like the kid got more than just a little discipline.

I suppose there might be a diabolically clever 11 year old out there somewhere who could do this.   It's much more likely that this is abuse.

My sister called the cops on my mom for being sent to bed with no dinner. The cops showed up, and told her next time, she better listen to her mother. These days tho, it's a crap shoot...mom could end up tazed, and the dog shot!

Being physically abused sucks. Sounds like poor parenting skills.

If you need a belt to beat up a child, you're probably kid of a pussy. Watch your back when he gets to be a teenager and realizes he can hand you yer ass.

Shocking that someone with the name DMZ DEATH, hit in the head by his/her Dad and calls others a pussy, would have this opinion.

Yeah, thats pretty much what I was wondering.

Too often, in today's age, we get kids calling the cops on their parents purely out of spite.  This, without realizing the ramifications of such an action.  Like, next thing you know, you're taken away from your parents by protective services!  Hardly the sort of outcome you'd really want as a child.

It sounds like this is a case of true abuse.  And that's a real shame.  Hope everyone is ok after all.

Yeah, but two dozen welts and abrasions are. I had a dad that would whip me with a belt. I hope the biatch gets 5-10 for assault.

Her kid was all lazy in bed,
knowing she couldn't smack his thick head.
She fretted and moaned.
He ate and stayed stoned.
So she dumped five gallons of ice water over his sorry carcass.

Pussified kids these days.
We had to go outside and pick our own switch.
Learned real quick that little ones were far worse. They turned into whips after a few swats.
The bigger ones broke and the ass whoopin was over.

2014-07-24 04:44:46 PM
I keep wishing I'd thought to call the cops when my Mom was on a rampage when I was a kid. Farkers saying, "Beat your kids; it's good for 'em!" can DIAF.

If you beat one kid with the other kid, you can show the cops how their bruises match up. It'll look like they beat each other, and you're off the hook. FOOLPROOF!

my parents believed in spare the rod and spoil the child
I believed in choosing their nursing home when they got too old
yep-lost my mother's estate (such as it was) to the state of Ohio for Medicaid recoupment after her passing but enjoyed placing her and the violent old man
know what happens when you attempt to use physical intimidation to get your way in a nursing home?  they dope you up just this side of being zombified
remember this all you breeders who like corporal punishment
someday you will be old and helpless and in the hands of the little pustule

You'll call the police?  Let me get you the phone, tough guy.

Oh, sure, if the police come I might get into a little bit of trouble.  But I know it's going to take them twenty-two minutes to get here.  And in that time, someone gonna get a hurt real bad.

CSB.  that warmed the cockles of my heart (as a formerly serverely abused child).

Beat an adult?  That's assault, and it's illegal.

Beat an animal?  That's cruelty to animals, and it's illegal.

Beat your spouse?  That's domestic battery, and it's illegal.

Beat a defenseless child? Well, that's okay, it's discipline!

/though it should be illegal

Anymore you need to arrange an "accident" for your child. Like fraying the brake cable on their mountain bike. Cut the strap on their life-vest. Loosening the nuts on their Razor scooter.

The little shiat-stains are smart enough to get the message, will understand you play the game better and therefore respect you more.
