I figure even if the movie sucks it'll still be worth seeing for Tom Hardy's performance.

Evidently, this movie is set in a modern shooter video game.

Poor Tom had that dreadful role in Star Trek, but has since done nothing but (IMHO) kicked ass.  He did comedy really well in This Means War.

Best actor working today.   Tinker Tailor, Bronson, Locke, The Take... all incredible performances.  Can't wait for the Krays remake.

My mind added an r there and now I cannot get out the visual of Mel Gibson in a bear costume....... I need help.

For some reason, that doesn't look like how I remember Tom Hardy.

Hope they didn't do something odd to him like Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Looper and it's uncanney valley the whole movie.

the references have been made before.  i don't think you can blame the franchise that created our vision of a dystopian future for making reference to all those games, movies, etc. whose vision was based on the franchise.  mad max, the road warrior, and beyond thunderdome basically established what the post-apocalyptic world will look like.

God I hope they put some kind of lineage to Toecutter, maybe a younger crazier brother.

Igor Jakovsky: I kinds wish they put Gibson back in as Max. Hes obviously older but I think he could pull it off.

Too old I would think unless he's the leader of a community or some such.  Remember, the life expectancy without modern medicine and such tends to lead to people dying younger, in addition to the violence inherent in the setting.

That and he's now a black sheep, so it's an obvious no-go.

I don't know... I'm not so sure about this movie. The fact that it was written by the guy who wrote the others doesn't actually fill me with confidence. They were getting kind of silly by the third, and it has been so long since they came out... That seems like a recipe for a movie with lame writing. Those stills don't really do anything to indicate otherwise.

2014-07-24 10:14:59 AM
Yeah, but are they going to make the Interceptor out of a Ford Falcon again? Those things are going to be discontinued in 2016, because Australian manufacturing is crazy expensive for Ford. Twice as expensive to make stuff there as it is in Europe, four times what it is at their Asian factories. RIP Falcon Ute.

I'd venture Hugh Jackman for Max, but he's starting to get a little old as well.

Vin Diesel would make a great Humungus.

Maybe Karl Urban? No. Too urban.

The game looks like it's going to be absolute garbage. If it even remotely resembles what they showed at E3, we're looking at "Worst Game of the Decade" levels of bad.

Those eyes are unmistakable.  I knew it was her from the first

For all that she had like 3 lines in ROAD WARRIOR, Virginia Hey is truly an unsung hero in the cause of
strong women in film.  For all that she is a woman (and a gorgeous woman at that), she was treated no
differently because of it.  She was as much a warrior as any of the other defenders, was never involved
with the hero as a love interest, and she died heroically without fanfare.  Probably the best on screen
case of equality of the sexes ever.

this is a threshold moment johnny

/ i would like it to be, basically, fallout 3/new vegas with cars.  change the purifier/dam into an oil refinery, lose the mutants, and more tribes, ignore radiation, make survival very hard.
// and, did i say cars, lot's of 'em.
