Jerry Jones is standing behind Jason Garret, you say?

Is that from "Yes Minister?"

Cowherd picked them last in the East at 5-11. Personally, I think that's farking crazy, I see them more towards 8-8 or 9-7. But if they do only win 5 games Garrett's ass is gone no matter how many votes of confidence he's getting right now.

Which is why the vote of confidence is dumb anyway. If the team totally abandons it's coach he's gotta go regardless of what the owner thinks at the beginning of the season.

Or is this just the first step before Jerruh announces he's firing Garret and replacing him with ... Jerruh Jones?

The Cowboys will be a clown show as long as Jerry Jones has a say in how the team is run.

You mean every other NFL team does not hold a training camp 'State of the Union' address where the Owner or GM says 'I like my coach and our chances'?

Imagine that. Cowboys are cutting edge once again.

Remember kiddies. Dallas with have it's sixth ring before Philly gets it's first.

Love em or hate them, they are the B-E-S-T that the NFC East have. Top of the hill, king of the world.

For our NFL predictions thread, do I predict the Cowboys go 7-9, missing the playoffs because they lose their final game or do I predict they go 8-8 and miss the playoffs after they lose their final game.

Two years running I've had that, but also that Romo and Garrett are done but Jones keeps bring them back.

That's why they're the reigning division champions, right?

This. Plus, the only coaches who need votes of confidence are the ones who can't get it done, and most of the time they're not going to be able to turn things around, and the fans are going to call for his head come December anyway. So there's zero credibility behind the statement.

Gotta go with 8-8. The Cowboys are the epitome of mediocrity.

Well, as the Giants have shown twice in the past 6 years, the trick is to reign in your sucking just barely enough to make the playoffs, then go to town.

Yeah. He's really goin' out on a limb there with that one. In reality, it's probably more like 6-10. The worst defense in the league hasn't gotten any better.

On the up-side, at least they've gotten the Sean Lee season-ending injury and the first Cowboy court appearance of the season outta the way.

They will split with the NFC east and beat the Titans, Jags, Rams, Cardinals Texans.  8-8

At best 9-7 with an upset of someone like the Colts or a double up on the Giants.

My guess is at best 7-9 with a solid possibility if 5-11. No defense and a post surgery Romo, an old Witten, and a fragile Murray. And a crazy Dez.

They're going to see a lot of scores in the 41-37 range; they could be lucky or unlucky and finish just about anywhere. 5-11 wouldn't shock me, but neither would 11-5. So I'll go along with your prediction as the median outcome, but there's a really high variance.

Just as I finished typing that paragraph, I realized you were talking about Colin Cowherd. I had read it as Cowher (as in Bill). So another argument in your favor is the fact that Cowherd is wrong about almost everything.

I would take a 5-11, only means that next year they would go 11-5! Go Cowboys! All the way to the bowl!

11-5 would be incredibly shocking and would put Jerry and Jason up for 100s of "executive/coach" of the year awards. Jerry's head would explode and he would sign everyone on the roster to 10 year extensions thinking that he finally found the right formula.

9-7 is the absolute best they can hope for, the worst case scenario has no bottom (maybe 4-12 is the worst, they gotta win 4)

Well yeah. But listening to him on the treadmill really drives home the point that I'm torturing myself.

Also, you obviously didn't hear Jerruh say this is the best defense that has ever defensed in the history of defense. He scoffs at your prediction of 41-37 games.

That's an interesting chart. Notice something about every QB above Romo. Now notice Romo and every QB below him. It's a divide. He's basically the size limit.

What would happen if Dallas replaced Romo with Peyton Manning?  I am pretty confident they would be for the worse on the offensive end.  Name some QB's that would do better than Romo given his situation.  The only one I can think of is possibly Cam Newton only because he can run with the ball.  However he would get tired after 4 quarters of doing so and cry about it after the game.

/Romo and Witten both have a lot to complain about... but they don't.

//I will just assume Dallas doesn't run the ball because they're afraid Murray will get drilled in the backfield.

When Dan Snyder *spit* becomes his own GM , then the problem will be the same. The fact that the Cowboys have been 8-8 despite Jerry Jones speaks volumes for Tony Romo alone. A healthy Cowboys team benefits all concerned. You need a real GM.

that last INT was an above-and-beyond effort on the DB's part IMHO
